Dennis-Lane has a bit of the MOL's about him.

Quick, good hands and dangerous around goals.

Even looks like MOL when he arrived at the Swans all gangly.

TDL (or H2) looks like a very interesting pick up. On one of the clips it said he was still only 19 but having been in the WAFL system for a few years now and having played senior WAFL footy for the past year, you'd reckon they've drafted him with the expectation of him playing at least some senior AFL in 2010. Will definitely add a different dimension to a forward line with White, Goodes and Bradshaw

It really was a most un-Swans like draft today. Not a single slow, big-bodied clearance player amongst them. Suggests they have a lot of faith in the likes of Bird, Hannebery, Kennedy, Meredith, Smith and Vez to take over in the centre square once B1 and Kirk have retired.

        Like the look of Sumner.

Even better news is that he is good mates with Lewis Johnston
Very happy with this pick, think he will be a real find.

Me too, based on the YouTube clip earlier in this thread. Has more than a smidgeon of the Andrew McLeod about him in the smooth way he moves and the powerful kick.

Our Hyphen II, Dennis-Lane is certainly an excitement machine. How good is he. He should learn a lot under Bradshaw's mentoring.

With him and Vez playing in the pockets, Big Jesse up front, I'm very excited for the future.

Sumner at his height, speed and tackling ability one could say he can be viewed as a tagging prospect for the early part of his Swans career before finding him a loose role either in the midfield or up forward.

Either way, very happy with the Swans 5 selections in this draft.

                  Yay!!!!
                  We got Jetta!!!!

Although I'm very surprised he wasn't in the top ten.

                  Never mind.

I had the same thought as I was watching the clip. Also got the impression he enjoys the opportunity to give the ball a good roost (sp?) which could be fun to watch on the SCG.

Overall I'm very pleased with how the night went. As soon as it was confirmed that we'd snaffled Rohan, and that Jetta had fallen to us, it was always going to be considered a successful outing. The other three guys are a bonus and, unlike some other National Drafts, you get the feeling that they all have a genuine chance of playing senior footy at some stage in their careers.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

Unbelievable draft. Go back a month to what many of us realistically wished for with the picks we had and none of us really expected we could get both Rohan and Jetta ..... but we have.

I was all for an x factor player at 54/55 and in HypenII we got him, just what we needed.

I'm fairly sure Gold Coast get the first five picks in the rookie draft which means we won't geta pick until 10 so most of the Jo Dares, Dylan Grimes, Matthew Panos will be gone by the time we get to pick. There is a way though to get hands on a couple of those players - if we're smart, we'll move the two vets to outside the list and have three picks in the PSD, Bradshaw plus two of the overlooked. There's some nice players not taken and in the PSD you basically get them for free.

Christmas has indeed come early for the swans.

                        Wow.

We'll not have the opportunity to pick up talent like this again for a long time.

Hope they ALL make the grade.

Panos as a rookie selection. Make it happen!

Sumner does look like a McLeod MkII. Long kick and lots of flair.

Should for a very good combo with Johnston.

                            Kick it to him!

Imagine this: Reid kicks the ball out from fullback, a long kick finding Sumner. Sumner with blistering pace screams through the midfield and kicks a boooooming left kick - JOHNSTON marks in front of goal. These Swans are an excitement machine. Funny to think a few years back, we were all bagging them for being boring.

Oh another attack of the vapors!!

Which do you think? There was some players today like Panos that missed out too.
