Jetta - 69KG
TDL - 74KG
RGB - 79KG
BD - 68KG
They will be pushed off the ball way to easily at AFL level. Pre season I expect most of them to get a run, but tough physically to stand up to players 10 - 15 KGs heavier than you.
Jetta and TDL will probably play 10 - 12 games, but these are players for 2011. You can destroy players playing them to much early in their careers
Exciting though. Interesting to see if Roos goes a little horses for courses with Players like Moore vs TDL Big ground vs small so say TDL and Jetta on Subiaco, Moore & Bevan on the SCG
Given our recent bad track record of injuries to you players, you'd expect that we will er on the side of cautionLast edited by Reggi; 28 November 2009, 01:15 PM.You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! At 194cm and 87kg? @@@@, that's an impressive school if all the boys have those stats.Comment

"Roos is hopeful Jetta, Sydney's second selection and No. 14 overall, can play AFL ne
in 2010".....
hhhhhhmmmm
yeah they will need to get a little bigger but reality is that Jetta and DL were still small in teh WAFL and did it easy.
Do we really think these lads will put on 10 to 15kg ?? Maybe Reid but Sumner, Jetta and DL will be lucky to put on 5kg in the next year or two
So on that basis Roo's brought Jetta just to the Swans to do his thing at a lean build.....ie sweep around the rucks, wide, deep and simply back his delivery and ability to link for a hand pass.
Lets hope !!!
The game is so clean and fast these days that fella's at 72 to 78kg with speed to burn can make it !

Sydney has done very well this year in both the trades and the drafts. (And add the return of a hopefully fit Kennelly).
All of the trade picks plus Bradshaw, (bar probably McGlynn), would make the best 22. Everyone of the five National draft picks, (although all but one are still teenagers), have at least the potential of playing seniors in 2010. (I can't remember having a similar view on ALL of the new kids coming on board via the draft in a given season)
The 'know all' Victorian press will not rate the Swans any hope of even making the top 12 in 2010. That is because they are more often not superficial and cursory in their assessments. There will be too much attention given to the "ageing list", "will miss Jolly badly", "are on the downward slope" .. blah blah blah blah.
Now that the dust is almost settled, (with the Bradshaw draft representing the last piece in the puzzle), I truely predict top 6 for the Swans in 2010.Comment

McGlynn finished off 2009 in sensational form and if he is able to reproduce anything resembling that kind of form then he'll be a walk up start in 2010. He was a genuine gun Dream Team forward by the time the (DT) finals rolled around. And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .Comment

now that th dust has settled with the 5 new boys...........my guess is that Jetta and TDL will challenge for games in 2010 and Jetta could get 15 plus
For the 22 when all available
McGlynn vs Kennedy vs Bird - probably only 2 of the 3 will get a spot in the 22 most weeks
Vespa vs Meredith vs TDL - forward pocket spot next to White and Bradshaw
I think Jack and McVeigh will start the games at wing but Jetta from the bench baby !
Johnston vs Grundy vs Richards most weeks only 1 will play !"be tough, only when it gets tough"

As for McGlynn and Kennedy, they are seasoned campaigners and will make the competition for a starting spot pretty keen, but I expect Bird to be another regular, given what we saw last year and the coaching staff's obviously high expectations. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

And as a flanker he'd be behind a huge list of players,
If he plays we're probably stuffed injury-wise.Comment

I'll be flabbergasted if Reid plays senior footy in 2010. He can't possibly be expected to peform as a KPP better than Richards, Grundy or White and hopefully not Johnston either, given Lewis has a year on him gym-wise.

I'm just relying upon a quote from Emma Quayle in the Fairfax press:
"Key defender Sam Reid was a steal in the late 30s."
Consequently, Reid still appears to be a very good pick up even if stiff competition probably will not see him play Seniors next year.
Also good to read some positive reports about the recent form of McGlynn with Hawthorn.
All this simply underlines my prediction that 2010 should be a good year for the Sydney Swans.Comment

I expect the NAB Cup to be used, as it always is by the Swans, to give as wide a range of players as possible some time on the ground. All of the above will get a turn but Johnston will play forward, which is why we picked him up, rather than back. I'd also expect Grundy to be a regular member of the 22 with Ted as a bench player.

i keep changing my mind to be honest between about 6 players of the 22. I am struggling to find a spot for Richards and Grundy.......not even the bench....Johnston being a tall will need to be flexible re backs and forwards just like Ted and Heaths first few seasons.....methinks !"be tough, only when it gets tough"
