My thanks too for the reports and photos, really appreciated by us far off fans. No one has mentioned Matt O'Dwyer. How did he compare say with Lewis III?

And here's the inside word by McVeigh

Insider Training with Jarrad McVeigh - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

The 50m penalties, the first one at least, I thought would have been paid last year as well as the player standing the mark encroached well over. The 2nd one I didn't catch as I wasn't expecting another 50.

If that holding the ball decision is going to be paid throughout the season then we're in for a lot more FKs. Sumner barely had time to pick the ball up before being crushed by TDL. I guess he didn't make the token attempt of getting rid of it. The one new rule that didn't affect today's game was the tackler dragging in the ball into the player being tackled.

I'm sure if you ordered the photo, they could air brush Pyke out of it.

Was it just me or did others think the players looked a little leaner than previous years? Fit heck yeh, but not as beefed up as I've seen them. Goodes is a prime example.

Probably a good point here. There was note previously that Vespa has lost a lot of "puppy fat". Sometimes bulking up is not a good move. Stuey M did that one off season, and his following season was crap. He couldn't run as fast.

That may well be the clue. The boys are training into running bodies which are needed with the current format.

It is such a fine balance for the coaching staff, bulk up and lose speed due to the extra kilo's of muscle weight or bulk up and have high impact less injury prone bodies.

The latter being less important because if you can't get to a contest there is no point being on the field.

It's obvious over the last couple of years that we just haven't had the leg speed to contest the faster teams.

Smart and obvious move by the coaches. The only player I've heard make any contradictory remarks has been Goodes who's said that he's had to put on some extra muscle weight to help him "outbody" in the forward role he'll be playing. Looking at the picture in the paper today he just looks lean and ready, if he's put on weight I can't see it.

I dropped in at training last night. Impressive session going into the weekend match. Moore continues to impress with extra fitness and enthusiasm .
Rowan and TDL matched each others's goal kicks..practised for quite a while after main traing session finished.
Grundy has filled out and shone during the low contact ball movement exercises.
Roosy seems to be working them really hard at fast ball movement and switching without any hesitation. The extra pace brought by Jetta and a few other youngsters has helped enormously.
Pykie had a run at full forward on Teddy for a few minutes..he's certainly getting a good education from Roos, and seems to be developing continually.
Tadgh played with a lightly bandaged calf and seemed aware of it a couple of times.Regardless, he seems to have his 07 pace and skills back, as does Malceski.

Thanks rb42, always good to hear about training. Grundy is turning into a gorilla, is listed on the club site as 192/99. And interesting news about Pyke, hope he gets a go up front.
                          Love all that pace.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Seaby in our Guernsey looks odd.

Campbell Heath looks like he'll fill out quite well.
