    Training

Took the kids to training this morning as a special treat - we lasted about 40 mins before they whinged they were bored senseless and we had to leave.

A big crowd out there - not being a ressies groupie I had no idea who half of them were, and very few familiar faces (didn't see Kirk, ROK, LRT, Jude).

5 boys were belting it out around the track (Hannebery, Heath, Seaby, Kennedy and Meredith - only knew this coz their names were written on a whiteboard). The rest were doing ball drills - except Rhyce Shaw who appeared to be bag boy.

Training track stand outs - Marty Mattner looked sharp, quick and keen; a young fella called Malceski looked exquisite on the left foot (really pleased to see how well he was moving); big Jess was leading and marking well; and what I assume was Trent D-L was carving up some poor youngster in man-to-man drills and generally looking exactly as dangerous as you'd want your forward pocket to look. Goodesy OTOH looked like someone who was still learning the CHF gig (tho this was definitely where he was playing).

Good fun to watch - certainly recommend popping down for a gander (and yes even I was faintly aroused and so many fit young fellas). Leave the kids at home tho - apparently it's not quite so fascinating for them.

So you didn't have a chance to get a note to Ed - suggesting that he play a bit of basket ball to up his running to space skills? And I was so counting on you to do that!

What is this post getting at? Nothing wrong with people getting down to training if they want. You post on here a lot, does that mean you don't have a life?

                  TeeHee!!!

As for me, I have a better life because I can get to training, sometimes, ok rarely, but its all come about from the joy of being forced into early retirement. And I get to post during the daylight hours too! I've got it all!!!

the momentum at the Swans in the off season is beyond belief !!

the cross training is fantastic and it appears like everyone is loving the variety and fun factor

the effort by the coaching dept is outstanding

a 20min kayak across to a beach for relays and further intensity is simple, fun and effective

                      something special is building

I recently took a group of kids to Melbourne and while there we visited the Storm and Demons training sessions.

I'm no great fan of rugby league but watching the different groups of Storm players training was fascinating.

Then over at Casey Fields where the Demons train, we had the privilege of head coach Dean Bailey addressing the group and explaining the drills as they happened and what they were trying to achieve with the session.

Even without his commentary it was great to watch, but the extra insight made for an enthralling hour or so (and I really couldn't give two hoots about Melbourne).

If your lifestyle allows you the opportunity of taking in the odd Swans session, I say, half your luck!

I drove by the lakeside oval on the way to a meeting on Tuesday - there they were all out there in their groups - red & white t-shirts a plenty it was nice to see them all our there again (and the posts on the pitch too!).
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Went to a Fiday morning training session on the 4th of December. Kenelly, Meredith and Seaby just running laps. Heath as well. Rohan didn't seem to be coping with the heat. Other newer players running laps as well. Jetta and Kennedy I think. Bradshaw just doing gym work on the day apparently. (Keeping him in cotton wool until last Tuesday I suppose) All others were hard at it. Goodes obviously working as part of the forward line. Pyke working as part of the defensive team. Ruck drills being done by Currie, Mumford and Orreal. The most impressive forward appeared to be Playfair. Looked very fit and strong. I was surprised at how full on they were at this early stage. Lots of tackling and game day drills. Long kicking into the forward line to a leading Goodes and Playfair. McVeigh yelling lots of instructions and Mattner very apologetic for some poor passing. Kirk having a laugh and enjoying it all. ROK and the Boltons nowhere to be seen. Anyway, try and get along to one of the sessions.
