Scott Watters was one of our all time greatest trades. Played in Eagles 91 GF side missed out on their 1992 Prmiership and was traded to Sydney in 1992 for our No 1 draft pick (we also got Tony Begovich one of BBBs all time favs)

They drafted Drew Banfield who went on to kick a behind in the closing minutes of the 2005 GF

If we hadn't traded that No 1 pick, they may have had a half decent player who would have kicked a goal and we would have not won the 2005 Premiership

One of the best trades ever

Rose was a reasonable backup ruckman, although not really tall enough. After a disastrous first two rounds in 1996, Eade decided that two ruckmen was a luxury the Swans couldn't afford, and that was the end for Rose.

McRae was a tough (and very ugly) on-baller/flanker, with a long, erratic kick. His 60 games with the Swans yielded only 13 wins and one draw! He also paid the price for those two floggings at the start of 1996.

Hehehehe ...long bow, but I like it

As for Brunton, Doctor J and I bumped into him at the Duke of Wellington during pre-game bevies en route to the '06 GF. He had his #13 guernsey on over a t-shirt. We said gooday as we walked out the door. My then Miss 14yo with #13 proudly displayed on her guernsey patted him on the back and said, 'Good onya mate, he's a champ that Schneider'.

Miss 14yo became Miss Embarrassed when we told her who he was and that the guernsey was actually his.

            I vividly remember that game.

I was living in a little town on the East Coast of Tassie called Falmouth. Everyone was Essendon/Hawthorn/carlton supporters and I had been given @@@@@ for years.
I was so excited about how well we were playing in this game I hung red and white streamers out on the fence as I thought we weree going to win. I disconsolately went out and removed them in the last quarter after Plugger's effort.

Never thought that day that I would be calling a dog of mine Plugger 5 years later

Ah, this has been great. And I did a check on my HD Rec and it was Peter HATley in the cheer squad, glasses, mo and distinctive style. Fortunately I didn't add on time to the recording (never trust the programme) and lost the last ten minutes. Seems like it might have been a yay from me.

I used to name my siamese fighting fish after the boys, starting with DannyTroy (yellow and black) after they were sent packing by that man eade. Almost had a full team at one time.

Now, we have a big Regret for Wade Chapman, but anyone know his history since leaving us. Was he pushed. Was it the head knocks (how many, anyone count?). Did he decide enough was enough? Anyone know him, give him a big hug from me, and a sloppy kiss on the ear.

He never got his foot right again.

He broke a bone in his foot in 97 (?) against the Bulldogs at the SCG and never came back properly from it. The same game, Cresswell left the field in agony with a leg injury which looked real severe. Chappy pushed the medicos away and played out the game. Cresswell played the next week and Chappy barely played again.

During the summer of '97/98 his foot was giving him grief still, but he desperately wanted to get back and pushed thru training. Unfortunately on the very first day back at training after the Xmas break the players went on a long run thru Centennial Park. As they arrived back at the SCG somebody informed the medicos to jump in a car and get Chappy who was back at the park unable to get back.

The poor bugger had snapped the achilles on his good foot, no doubt from the continous favouring of that foot given his problems.

He never got it right and was eventually, reluctantly, let go.

He was picked up by Port Adelaide in one of the drafts and given a second chance, but it was just never going to happen.

I just found this piece from 2007.

                  Chapman gets 6 !!!

I thought it must have been another Wade Chapman. I can barely remember him raising his voice, let alone belt somebody.

Then further in the article it notes he was ruled out for the season with an achilles injury. Yep, same old Chappy

Thanks a lot BBB. I love it he is still majorly involved in footy. And of course he didn't belt anyone. He is one of the gentlemen of the game, like LRT, and it just isn't in his nature. Stoopid tribunal. Mixed him up with Barry Hall.....

We shall have to set up a thread called Chappy Watch.

Now I want to know what happened after the archilles (again) injury.

He came back and played his 50th game with us. The commentaters said such things as "He doesn't sleep with the light on" and the like to describe his style of play . It was obviuos though he was a shadow of his former self. The commentater was a past player(Plugger maybe) as was really complimentary about what a great bloke he was.
