It seems Club Swans isn't long for this world, I for one will not be sad to see it go and replaced with something a little easier (read:walking distance to the SCG) to access. The Cross was never going to be a great location for the Club.

Having a Club Swans at Entertainment Quarter would be the most obvious place.

I agree with having something close to the SCG. No way am I going anywhere near Club Swans where it is now. Something close to the ground that had a family-friendly area (not the whole club, just part of it) is definitely the way to go if it can be done.

Yep, Hammo you're definitely right. It's been a thorn in their side for a while now and a definite conflict. I'd expect it to change fairly soon though, given the situation.

I think it will be sad to see Club Swans go. It's a great venue to attend all year round and they've had some really good functions there during the season.

As for all the whingeing about it's location, I doubt we'd please everyone, no matter where we put a social club.

Not the best situation, but there are plenty of businesses renting premises from landlords that are inter related just needs to be handled correctly.

Issue is that ING paid too much for the sites in Kings Cross, spent too much on the fit out's and the businesses that have gone into them have not performed.

I have no issue with the club looking to diversify their revenue base, but they limited it's appeal by linking the venue to the football club. They would have been better off using another venue close to the SCG for social functions and then to have purchased a stand alone club somewhere in Sydney and ran that as a seperate business not related to the football club.

On the money again Legs. $770000 divided by ave. $200 membership = 3850 supporters.

Given the uproar about the membership price hikes and shifty stuff on seats it is not too far fetched to think that this had a big hand in the revenue drop.
Its only about a 13% drop in numbers.

Where do you park to go to this Club Swans, I've heard it's OK, but by the time you get out of the SCG carpark, u just want to go home, if it was close to the ground, sure probably would wander over for a lemonade or two with some like minded souls.

Maybe they should make the best of a bad situation and change it from Club Red and White to Club Red Light and aim for a different target audience.

It is a great venue that there is no doubt, and when we played the semi final against the Bulldogs a few years ago, the joint was packed with members getting a meal and watching the screens through out the club.

The problem is that its just not in the best location.

People with kids dont want to take them there and that is completely understandable. Another turn off is that hideous parking station and that puts people off too. Its just not in an appealing area.

Maybe had they have of gone with Moore Park bowling club, they could have created a real family atmostphere there and they would have picked up not only the game day patrons but also surrounding residents as well.

Oh well we wait see what transpires.
