Will Kirk be a bolter if he still leads the Swans in tackles and clearances at the end of 2010? Summer boredom found me watching the Saints game from late last year a few days ago (in front of the a/c). After a while I was closely observing how Kirk has incredible reflexes. We're used to seeing him at the bottom of the pack but watch closely and you see him get the ball out in heavy congestion to a nearby teammate who then loses the ball and Kirk immediately (and legally) tackles the opponent who got it. That was in the space of a few seconds. Seconds later he's extracting it again.

Watching him run and kick, we still tend to think of him as a tagger. The times when he kicks a goal after getting boot to ball in a congested forward 50 seem like a fluke. But watch closely and you'll see that he's not just one of the team's hardest working but perhaps the one with the best ball/game nouse.

I wonder how we'll go when we lack the dual determination of Roos and Kirk? Who takes over the kirk role?

My hope is for Daniel Currie.

Mumford will be given first crack at first ruck and Seaby second ruck, but I have a feeling if Daniel stays fit, he'll takeover the second ruck spot from Seaby in the second half of the season.

Daniel may also be handy as a tall forward, at times during the season.

I wonder if we will see Brownlow contention players this year. If, like we did in 1996 (Kel did say it was his best year even though he won in 1995) have big improvers everywhere it would probably negate the player "profile" of Goodsey....a more evenly spread distribution amongst Goodsey, McVeigh, Peb, Jude and Kirky; plus whoever else, such as Jack, Kenelly, Shaw - the possiblities are endless.

Can't see Jack getting too many Brownlow votes. Would be nice to see Goodes, McVeigh and ROK up there.

I'm more hopeful of some of our young guns being rising star nominees. Would be fantastic to see Smith, White (can he get nominated again?), Vez, Hanners, MOD, Thornton etc etc in with a chance of nomination.

Pretty sure White, Smith, Thornton and MOD are too old (and the first two have played too many games as well).

Meredith, Vez, Hannebery, Currie (qualifies by a couple of weeks), Johnston, Heath and the new draftees (except TDL) would be the eligibles (plus McNeill, Gilchrist but they are pretty unlikely to get enough opportunities).

lots of players I would like to say will be Bolters in 2010........BUT we need most of all a true goal sneak ! we need goals from Goodes, White and Braddy but we need goal sneak goals.

Jack, Jetta or TDL will need to make this their mission.

Jetta at HFF would be awesome but TDL has the goals behind him in the WAFL

              hhmmmm Jetta or TDL ???

Both have the potential to be excitement machines. Really hope they get a chance to play this year.

With a full preseason Malceski could be in for a huge year with us - if he gains some early form and confidence.

McGlynn could be the susprise bolter, appears to have had a solid preseason
                  he's my dark horse.

                  Cheers

How daft of me to not think of this bloke. MOD. Lets see where the kid gets to this year. If he has a breakout year I would not be surprised.

I just want to see Ed Barlow make the grade, he's got every attribute but something doesn't click.

Release K Jack to be an offensive player

TDL could be sensational around our tall forwards

                      I'm getting excited!

I would almost say his breakout year happened at the tail end of last year.

Boy he showed something. I really expect him to take his game to the next level this year and be a key member of the senior team.

I hope our bolters are the old farts: Bradshaw, Kirk, B1, B2 and Goodesy.

If they fire we are unstoppable for 2010!

Let me add Roos. Hopefully he has the team to execute the plan!

                            BTW

I know Dylan McNeil is way off teh chart re Bolters but if you havent ad a chance to watch his high lights etc the guy is a very competent midfielder

he really does remind me of a mini Sam Mitchell at the same age....... in the way that he plays midfield and his build etc

everything is in slow motion like Sam Mitchell ie they both have alot of time on the ball with out defenders touching them........Dylans lines around the ruck is just to easy.........creates great space and angles.......yet is addicted to being around teh ball, on the ball tackling the player with the ball and he just loves being in the middle of the field and giving a decent long kick to the Forwards.

If he was faster........ we would be all talking about him as we are obsessed at the Swannies with our 3km runs and 1km runners etc.........he is a very natural footballer !
