Why is Goodes hated by Victorians? (not including Victorian-based Swans fans)

The problem with Goodes is that even as a Swans supporter he is frustrating. He makes stupid decisions when the right one is in front of him. He is inconsistent and because of his Laconic style can look lazy. I hear his break up from his girlfriend messed him up. A player of his ability needs to string quality games together. Making him Co Captain is the smartest thing the Swans have done. He loves responsibility.
Although how Kirk is not sole captain is a joke. If only he had the pleasure of holding the cup up in 2005!
    Maybe this year

      Why Staker?
Is it because he headbutted Halls fist?

rok have you heard of Polly Farmer, Barry Cable, Syd Jackson, Nicky Winmar, Byron Pickett, Maurice Rioli, Peter Matera, Andrew McLoed I believe that there have been numerous courageous and classy indigenous players before Adam Goodes, I complexed as to what " the stereotypical indigenous player" is?

Goodes you have to look up to, because of his ability and because of his stature. People want to bring him down because they don't want to think that an abo could be better than them. I love him. I would go as far to sat that (after Davo) he is my favourite player ever.

During the first NAB cup game I was sitting in front of Carlton's inner enclave incuding Kernahan, Jeanne Pratt and others I didn't recognise, maybe members of their board. They were surprisingly vocal about all the action on the field. Every time Goodes touched the ball their collective reaction was envy mixed with resignation. These were 3 comments I remember: "sheesh.... what can you do" "you can't stop him" "wish we had him"

I think there are plenty of people who can't stand Judd, not only because he is good, but also because the media bang on about him all of the time. McAvaney is possibly the worst, almost orgasming every time Judd gets within 10 metres of the ball.

You see my point? Often there is no reason except a said player gets under your skin and you just want to scratch. I cannot explain why I don't take to Staker, but there you go. I am sure he is not losing sleep over me.

And I have an issue with Judd. Probably because he is reveired (sic) in Melbourne, and I do not think he is a good captain of his club.

I don't have a problem with our three captains, each has a role to play and each one is different. Their personalities alone shore that opinion up. They take on a fair bit of work and it is much better balanced between this group than one captain (who has four kids I might add) doing it all.

I used to love booing Richo, except he looked so wounded I stopped and eventually give him a little whoohoo every now and again.....just to make up for old times.

I was almost disappointed when the dogs mob of hatefuls retired - I became more indifferent to their fate once the mafia left - so I guess there is a point in having someone to boo.

BUT I am with Dimelb. I don't actively hate anyone. Footy or otherwise. Waste of energy and life.
I am scornful perhaps, even delighting in their demise, thoroughly enjoyed booing Chris Lewis (W.C.) off his game, but I was not in the mob who booed Libba off the ground when he did his knee. Now that would be hateful.

Vitriol has no place in my life. But I give myself permission to be dismissive of Carey and Lloyd and Libba as a start.

I forgot! Umpires. Oh. Well. That's different. That little Razer Ray is in my little black book of nasties, along with most of the others come to think of it. But that's different. Umpires are not human.

                Yep.
I personally am not a Judd fan and whilst I realise he is a very good player, I just don't see what they consistantly bang on about.
In our Nob cup game, they swooned every time he touched the ball, yet I thought he was quite ordinary.

I also hate umpires! I watch every swans game with my cousin who is an umpire in the Sydney AFL. Every time I go crazy at a decision he will explain to me the interpretation that led to the decision. But even then I still hate the treatment the swans get from the umps (though it may be mostly irrational).

Maybe thats why moving goodes to the forward line could be a masterstroke, he wont get as rough a deal as Hall did from the multi-coloured men.

                    Silky skills.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think Rok's point is that many of the indigenous boys, are flashy and and inconsistent. Goodes does a lot more than just the flashy stuff.

Goodes is our true champion and is obviously not a vindictive person - unlike some of the so called "great players" that I can't be bothered going on about here. IT must be jealousy.

I think the bad press started last year when he bumped some bloke from behind who had been riding him all day. Sure this was out of character, but he is an Aussie Rules footballer not St. Adam.

Then remember, this was followed by a couple of hip and shoulders that may have involved head high contact - I believe they were accidental. The Vic press started this "sniper" garbage and Lethal came up with the "protected species" line that really stuck.

They sure change their tune when it comes to him wearing the big "V" in any kind of State of Origin. ( Comes from SA anyway so they should be jealous of that too.)
