I know it's only one game but LRT better improve many times over, or get used to the surrounds of Canberra.
Bradshaw filling the Hall void perfectly (players hanging all over him and no frees)
Some bizzare calls both ways, not to mention a goal ump that can't tell when a ball clips the post.
At leas some positives to suggest Sydney will be thereabouts come September.Premiers 09,18,33,05

The hit was late. I don't think it was malicious, but it certainly should have been a free and 50. Borderline on whether it will be reported. You could argue that he was committed and couldn't pull out.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

i thought Lyon matched up players very very well in 2nd and 3rd qtr especially............but he does have a very very good team.........Saints didnt carry and players tonight but we did.........which is natural for the likes of Kennedy, Jetta etc until they find their feet
McVeigh was outstanding !"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Just got back wow what a mixed game - the thought that has stuck with me all the way home is watching our guys stand back when the ball was there to be won, Saints were harder at it. Jesse White must think he is 5 ft 1 and 65 kgs and watching Mattner let a couple waltz past him on our fwd 50, probably a move that failed on the night?
I thought our backline was great and didnt get the support from the MF at times. Moore couldnt keep up when in the FWD 50 when pressure needed to be applied he was ok at stoppages but they ran off him too easily and Bevan with his extra pace would have to be a better option. I thought this is where we lost the game in not applying pressure on the Saints coming out of our FWD 50 and some terrible turn overs, forget the umps look at our turnovers.
Cheers

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

If that hit on Tadgh was legit then it would be ok for defenders to launch themselves up and over the player in front - as long as the guy from behind keeps his eyes on the ball and punches in the general direction of the ball - then land on top of the player he just flattened.
It would be like an "in the back" but using every part of the body except the hands and arms. The guy underneath will come out worse almost every time. Legit use of the body? Don't think so. Mattner's shove on St Nick was nowhere near as dangerous, just silly.Comment

I think it should be reported. That is the type of behaviour that is not required in the AFL. I would be disappointed if he was to miss any game time for it. However, I think it would be worthwhile to highlight the fact that people shouldn't whack people in the back of the head before landing on their back (dropping 80 odd kilos on their chest while lying down). It's a general rule that we, as a society, seem to have. He was never going to get there for the spoil. Instead of choosing to have value in the welfare of a person, he chose to "show his commitement"?
Poor form. Should be reported. Should get off.
Kozi, however...

I actually thought we were the better team and lost due to a combo of umpires and cheap goals.
Very impressed with Seaby!
Very unimpressed with White. He needs to take some angry pills. The way he plays, one could be forgiven for thinking that Jetta could beat him in an arm wrestle.
Hoping that Bradshaw improves with game time.Comment

If we can get the ball past the half-forward line, we'll be in with a chance.
We had the same problem last year. This needs to be fixed.
What ever happened to the good old-fashioned tackle. Many an opportunity missed tonight - too many standing around "looking".
Drop White. Sorry folks, it needs to be said. The whole team were "white-centric" - when other were available to kick goals.
A few very, very doggy umpiring decisions ... not happy there.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
