I heard the WAFL have a rule where under 18's can't play senior football until after the U18 championships are finished. So maybe we will see him in the firsts this week.
According to the WAFL site, he has only played the one game this year.

In other news, he has been invited to the AFL national draft combine (Etihad Stadium, October 4-7, 2011)

Barry Mitchell has resigned from Fremantle and will return to Melbourne to live. Would he be interested in a job perhaps ??

He lived in my street prior to Perth move I'll keep a look out. Last year I met him at the Freo season launch and asked if we had any chance of snagging Tom he gave a wry smile at the time and said 'you never know'...

Mitchell's last two games for Claremont Colts have been BOG performances with 45 and 35 disposals respectively.

Well picked Deads. Well you can't blame the Swans for that. You still have a developing body that the Swans are paying squillions for, and they want it in tact before handing the poor kid over to the Commander.

I didn't know we could have that sort of say - have we actually officially signed him? I didn't think we actually had him officially until draft day???

I had been wondering why he wasn't playing senior footy with Claremont. Most of the top ranked WA juniors graduate to the senior team in their final underage year. Some play close to two seasons at senior level.

On one level it is a shame because the experience might hold him in good stead. That said, he probably won't gain much by graduating to the senior level so late in the season.

Sydney have banned rising teenage star Tom Mitchell from taking part in Claremont's league finals campaign.

The 18-year-old has signed a million-dollar deal to join the Swans next year under the father-son rule and is bound to follow Sydney's instructions.

I imagine it's the Swans telling Tom and Tom telling Claremont. I doubt they can ban a WAFL club from playing a player they intend on drafting under F&S rule.

Sorry kids. Just joined the conversation.
                          How exciting.
Pity we can't find a job for Barry as well!!!

Working in WA at present and had the ABC footy programme on the radio. Just caught the tail end of a score update for a Colts Preliminary Final involving Claremont. Claremont won and Tom Mitchell starred, 22 possesions, 10 tackles (I like it) and 3 goals.

Made the pain of last night ease a little.

Apparently Barry played part in this decision too. Bit surprised I have to say.

With the Colts winning yesterday, the mighty Tigers are in the GF for seniors, ressies and colts - so Tom should be able to find himself a premiership medallion somewhere there.
