a few guys overboard, but Tyrone Vickery.... did they get him mixed up with someone else (Ben Brown maybe,
they seem to have the same hair "stylist")
    or something.
He always makes me think of one half of the Scared Little Weird Guys.

Come to think of it, probably plays like him too.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

See trading posts re st kildas pick 10 to Hawks for a future first rounder. I warned every one here we would get shafted.

You make it sound like you're Nostradamus go back through the posts everyone said we'd get shafted!

I believe S Mitchell had already had talks with West Coast about coaching there in 2018, so why wouldn't he go a year early? It is shocking to us, but I get the impression it's been on the cards for a while.

I don't care what other opinions may be, but I think this is madness by Hawthorn. They have sold the farm and ruined their reputation to get Tom Mitchell and JOM, who undoubtedly will be a great player if he can overcome his injuries, but is still a risk.

That aside, I agree that we received unders for Tom Mitchell. It just shows that we wanted him out at almost any price. In the end it probably won't make that much difference. If you have a strong list that runs deep you are going to lose some good players for less than fair value.

Pretty sure I just saw Tom Mitchell in Melbourne. He was blocking a bike lane

The Hawks have always been a very clever trading team, so I'd be reticent to second guess their strategy, but:

They have given up their 1st and 2nd draft picks from this year, their 1 round draft pick for next year, Josh Hill, Sam Mitchell and probably a player like Billy Hartung for Tom Mitchell and JOM. Seems like a lot to me, but they've made these kind of trades in the past and it's worked.

Maybe Clarko is such a good coach that it really doesn't matter who's playing for them, they will do well.

If Lewis goes to Melbourne they have lost their 2 best midfielders and are in big doo doo.

                    they've lost a couple of pre-geriatrics.

Regardless of what the rest of the trade week is for Hawks, they are very confident of contending next year and beyond. Very gutsy trades/FA.

Which is bizarre if you look at their list. Mitchell almost single-handedly kept them in many games this year, especially in the first half of the year.

Hawthorns midfield was crap in 2016. They needed to make radical change and they have.

I have no doubt Hawthorn made the correct choice, unfortunately. They reamed us good. They're laughing.

Mitchell and Lewis were done. Tom Mitchell will slot in and keep things going for them next year.

Thanks Tom for all your efforts in the Red and White. It's been a pleasure watching you develop from a kid in the U18s to now, and whilst there have been a few bumps along the way where you were held back, they were probably for the good and your career is really blossoming now. You've been one of my favourites and I'll miss seeing you out there.

They said - that's footy and I can't begrudge you for taking a much better offer that we clearly aren't able to match. Good on you and I wish you all the best except when you play us.
