The AFL should bring it down to 80 for NSW & QLD in recognition of the hard road these teams have. 100,000 Vics will turn up for pretty much anything, well it feels like that on Reg Hunt's Golden Mile of Used Cars of a Saturday morning. The NSW audience is fickle at best, rugby league attendances are generally pathetic for home & away matches.Comment

The NRL doesn't think low crowds are a problem. In the '70's & '80's this was the case as the pokies took the slack on lack of games revenue. Since the introduction of pokies into the pubs this has changed and a lot of people go to the local pub to play the pokies instead of the club. The pubs even have meat raffles and the profits go straight to the owners (not legal but they are getting away with it). The nRL clubs blamed the NSW Government Pokie Tax for sending them into financial troublebut the tax was rescinded and they were still whinging about it. The truth is that pokie revenue is not enough to run the football departments anymore and bums on seats at games have become important. The clubs that get the crouds, Melbourne, Brisbane, St George etc are doing very well but the rest struggle. The coaches have told David Gallop, CEO NRL, that there needs to be a return to grass roots RL but he doesn't believe that the crowds make much difference. The new commission disagrees with him evidently as they have instituted a study into crowd trends and way of getting people back to the game. TV deals seem to be a big thing for them and without them the NRL would die.The AFL should bring it down to 80 for NSW & QLD in recognition of the hard road these teams have. 100,000 Vics will turn up for pretty much anything, well it feels like that on Reg Hunt's Golden Mile of Used Cars of a Saturday morning. Would be much appreciated Andy.
They are top of the ladder team, however have played their opponents three times now including a final and lost them all. Hopefully they can turn that around tomorrow.
