Yes, Claremont lost but the good news is that Tom Mitchell looks like he will fit in very well at the Swans. His play around the stoppage was very good. Runs through the packs and quite often to where the ball was hit. He doesn't look fast, but looks strong. The area that I was most impressed with him, was his ability to get the ball on the ground and get a handball out under pressure. His handball skills were very good and his awareness of his team mates around him was exceptional. Nearly all of his handballs out were to team mates even while he was being tackled. The coaching staff kept taking him off the ground quite often. I would think he only played about 2/3rds of the first half but was on a bit longer in the second half. Didn't look injured but maybe his fitness is a bit down.
For South Freo their two big forwards Mason Shaw and Shane Kersten stood out. Good size and both can take a contested mark and good long kickers on the ball. I would be happy to see the Swans get either of them.
Anyway it was a nice morning at the footy. Pity Claremont didn't win but the day was made by the draft cheating wet toast going down.

Good summary of Tom Mitchell's performance in the GF Andy. I agree he is well balanced and strong, with his mind about 3 seconds ahead of his teammates. His voice was important in a growing environement where no one seems to want to talk anymore (random thought, maybe the social networking age is impacting on the ability to communicate...).
I also like Brendan Ah Chee from South Freo- very mobile tall midfielder. Will be watching to see where he ends up.Comment

Good news with him coming to the Swans under the F/S rules. I hope there is not too much pressure put on him due to Dad having played here.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment
