IIRC the Giants tabled a pretty mediocre bid with a late, late pick which the Swans wouldn't have utilised anyway. So in essence the Giants did force Lamb to the PSD.

    Edit: found the thread http://www.redandwhiteonline.com/for...amb-trade-Poll

Pick 48 was offered, pick 44 was the last pick we used in that draft. We had pick 53 in that draft and passed.

Tom Mitchell does not want to play with the Swans anymore. I'm sure he has his reasons (money, big fan of all the graffiti art
in the Melbourne CBD laneways, wants to hang out with all the umpires at one of Hodgey's BBQs, really likes trams) but whatever
they are, it is a choice he has made. He is just a guy from an opposition team now.

Let's wait until the picks are swapped. Still think we'll only use three picks so anything that moves up our third pick currently 38? to say the Mayne compo pick of 23 would be good.

There may be opportunities to bundle picks for higher picks from academy clubs. Still an awful lot of trades and pick movement to be done, including a few biggies like O'Meara, Prestia, Gibbs, GWS cast offs etc that will change the pick trading landscape significantly. It helps everyone if trades get done early.

Under 7 days now until the closing bell rings!

True, GWS always had the power to get Lamb in any case. I suppose my point was that the Swans gave an 'up you' response to the offensively low pick offer by making Lamb go into the PSD and making GWS use their first pick in that draft to get him. Might have only been a symbolic resistance by the Swans but it was at least (in my eyes) a sign that they were not happy that GWS were not engaging in fair trade.

It was a token victory at best given Lamb was the only pick in the PSD that year. I think the other part that annoyed us was that Mumford was traded for (a very undervalued) pick 35 earlier in the week and perhaps we could have gotten a better deal with Mumford and Lamb as a package

The Swans could have done the same with Membrey but chose to delist him which allowed the Saints to pick him up as a delisted free agent instead of making him and the Saints wait till the PSD.

              Membrey was worth nothing.

I'm pretty sure we actually traded Membrey to St Kilda with pick 39 for their pick 37.

Pick 48 was overs for lamb. GWS got nothing out of him.

                    Neither did we.
                    Is he still playing?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

could be a good player if he added to his 12yr old girl physique

Hawks last year got pick 15 for Jed Anderson.....Read that again

Surely Mitchell has his limitations as a player, like Diesel Williams did too.
Kid can play, kid can get his own ball (look at our GF we have a few that cant) and most important in my eyes is kid shows up when it matters most in finals.
Again, ill reserve my judgement until its complete.
Hawks didn't get pick 15 for Anderson as it was offset by the fact that the Roos also effectively got picks 38 and 40 as well two picks not without value (albeit whilst giving up 54). Having said that I'd call that trade a win for the Hawks

Agree we need to wait and see but if this trade takes us from one to three picks in the top 25 I'll say it's a win. And we need picks not players due to our cap pressure that will not be there in two years after Tippett retires

I think Lamb could have been a superstar with us had he stayed. I think he shot himself in the foot by going for money (Memory is fuzzy, but that's the reason he left, right?). Same with Warwick Capper.

Tom Mitchell, dunno. I think he'll further develop and become pretty good. Got that feeling.

Mitchell will be Hawthorn's primary inside midfielder and not much else.

I figure (roughly) that the Jed Anderson trade nets out to a pick in the low thirties. Anderson has been disappointing so far, but he was pumped up so much by Dermott Brereton you can understand why the Roos were keen on him. As usual Terry Wallace gets his computations wrong. The key to Terry's continued presence in media is due to the fact that he makes everyone else around him seem intelligent, except perhaps Mark Robinson, who couldn't give a @@@@.

I would be disappointed if we traded our 2 first rounders for one higher up the draft. I like the talent available in the teens and don't see that much of a differential after the first few picks, which won't be in play anyway.

Tippett's big salary is likely to go into retirement in 2 years, but I think he will play on. He should have another decent 4 years in him.
