Also Bradshaw had nothing nice to say about his former captian Voss as well.
I saw a fair chunk of it, I'd say it was more that the media wanted to make it appear that there's a big issue between Bradshaw and the Lions and it was pretty clear the problem was just with Bradshaw and Voss. It looked to me like Brown is still friends with Bradshaw and obviously is still coached by Voss and clearly didn't want a part of any slinging match.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Brown said something like "Braddy is one of my best mates".

Interesting point of view from BSA5 but I persoanlly think he has every right to feel betrayed. I'd be surprised and disappointed if we did that to a bloke of Bradshaw's quality, who'd done nothing wrong and was still playing good footy.

Bradshaw, on the other hand, won Brisbane the semi V Carlton off his own boot.

This is what I have always assumed was his major problem. He was offended at not being consulted when it wasn't just him that would be effected by the move. Many on here were sympathetic to Jollys wishes to head back to Melbourne, isn't this similar in that Bradshaw had a wife (not sure if she's a Brissie girl or not) and four young kids, two of which are at school?

Have a close friend who is a Lions member and he was not happy with Voss about the whole thing and thinks that Voss was the one in the wrong.

It was a pretty mercenary move on Voss's part. He's a new coach out to prove himself but there was a lack of integirty in the way he went about Bradshaw's possible trade to Carlton.

I know it's a business but after 14 years with the club some loyalty is deserved.

Now that Fevola's family have returned to Melbourne, you wonder how it will all pan out anyway.

How can you compare Schneider to Bradshaw? DB's role at the Lions was far more significant and influential than Adam's at the Swan's.

I don't agree that he is being a cry baby. I think his reaction is human to be upset with an old friend and teammate and who wouldn't be pissed that Fev was rated higher. What an insult. It's not like Bradshaw had been injured or wasn't contributing.
It's important to remember that this stuff makes GREAT copy so there is a lot of selective editing occuring to help generate debate and up the number of hits on the news websites.
Daniel also said that he would have no problem attending the reunion for the 2001 premiership so what does that say?
He went to Carlton had a look and said "no thanks" went away to decide to play on and got a call from us.

A bit off the subject but I think it would just be so satisfying and somehow poetic justice if DB was able to kick more goals this year than both Fev and big Baz. Go DB!

I posted that dream ages ago. But how can he when he has to rely on the crap midfield supply that left Baz frustrated for all those years of deprivation?

A few weeks ago I'd have agreed with you, but the midfield/half forward line is doing better lately - some great work by McVeigh, Moore, Kirk, Jetta and so on. I caught a very neat shot from McVeigh that Braddles ran onto and thought 'Why couldn't they do that with Baz on a regular basis?'
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                      Two theories:
                      1. He couldn't get there because he was being scragged by two opponents who could do what they like to someone who was only a Swans thug forward.
                      2. He didn't see the ball because a) it was a night game and he's blind and b) he was too busy crying to the umps for a free or sooking to the other Swans players.

                      Your choice.

My take on it is that it came completely out of left field for Bradshaw. He'd been in Brisbane since he was 17 and obviously felt he would finish out his career there.

I can only imagine when the talk of re-signing a new contract, which no doubt would have been his last, the conversation would have been along the lines of 'Get the things you need sorted, sorted, I'll sign when I wander down to the club next week/fortnight/month/whenever'.

I doubt it crossed his mind for one minute that he would be put up for trade bait. And it was a serious attempt to offload him, a trip to Carlton and all, not just a 'Well Rats, how about we throw in Bradshaw as well?'

From reports, Sydney moved VERY quickly, so much so that Roosy got Kinnear Beatson to call Bradshaw on the very night he was in Melbourne to let him know that the Swans would be very interested in having his services.

I think this gave Bradshaw the option to say 'Well if that's how u treat me, you can get stuffed'. If the move by the Swans hadn't been so prompt, Voss may have been able to go into damage control and smoothed things over to some extent.

Of course topping all this off, at the end of the day when Fevola signed with the Brians, Bradshaw may well have seen that a place as a tall in a forward line boasting Fev and Browny was not a given.

Quite the opposite of being a cry-baby. He went, OK, so that's how it is, and made a move of his own choosing. He and Vossy's relationship was ended by Voss' actions, and Bradshaw had the grace and pack his bags and move on. If Voss expects him to forgive and forget, to now be a friend, or say nice things about him in the press, then HE's the cry-baby - I want to be able to mess with your life, but I don't want you to hold it against me? If he wants to be all business, that's fine, but then expect your players to have the same attitude to your club. Braddy's interests weren't considered in the deal they wanted to use him for, has to go to bat for himself, but somehow he's supposed to feel an obligation to allow the Lions to benefit from his trade? Please! I think he's shown remarkable restraint!
