Now I am really confused (and clearly the AFL are also):
Rush of blood? No, Cale Hooker decision a good call says AFL | Herald Sun
This rule is now a complete mess. If the AFL are stating that Hooker was not under pressure then how could the say that Slattery was in the game against the Hawks. The difference is slight and is a matter of degree not of kind. By taking that line it also makes the decision to drop McLaren disgraceful.
As I stated in an earlier post the rule was introduced to stop players kicking or walking the ball through after a behind had been scored etc, or when there was no pressure at all - it was not meant for this type of scenario. If Hooker had fumbled the ball a second time and let Koschitzke get a metre closer, would he then be entitled to thump it over the line?
Gieschen is a twit and the AFL should re-evaluate what they are tying to achieve (and then make it clear to all and sundry).Comment
