Mum took priority. Any views on how Pyke went? Stats look Ok for a first game but can be miss-leading.

Personally I think it's unrealistic to be competitive with a really good side missing LRT, C Bolton, McGlynn, Seaby, Hanners and Bird from our best side, plus I would be surprised if J Bolton, O'Keefe, Moore etc could back up after Brisbane

Unfortunately our depth is being tested already

In the press conference Roos said he didn't bother tagging Ablett because he didn't think it would work. If coaches were awarded clangers surely that would be one of them. When the game was getting away from us in the third, a hard tag was required. Smith was the obvious choice for mine.

In contrast our best midfielder - McVeigh - was taken out of the game by Ling. We had no one else capable of clearing it.

He didn't star, but more than held his own.

I'd reckon Roosy will sleep a bit better tonight with the thought of the next 3 months not being as big as a concern as it may have been.

Hammo, I know where he is coming from. Ablett is almost un-taggable and we certainly have nobody capable of putting a hard tag on him.

Your last sentence may hold a clue to a solution of sorts. Although McV is past the tagger stage, if he is not getting a kick because Ling is smothering him, he may as well go and tag Ablett and let Bomber worry about what to do with Lingy.

I think it's fair to say Ablett ripped us a few new one's today. Why wasn't he tagged again?

Great as long as he can hold his own and give Mumford a chop out our season stays alive, if he doesn't we're shot. Too hard to ruck through a season without support especially as actually Mumford only has about 20 games more experience

Commentators kept going on about how Ling was shutting down McVeigh, but I thought McVeigh's use when he did get the ball was good. He was one of the few out there, especially forward of the centre, who actually tried to use the ball constructively going forward, rather than just aimlessly bombing it towards the general direction of Bradshaw.

That may be true but you still have to try.

Richmond aren't capable of beating Geelong but they still had to rock up last week and have a crack at it.

I thought Kennelly Smith and Mummy were ok in a team badly defeated. Pyke did better than i expected and could be ok. He already knows more about AFL than ED Barlow. Gary Rohan WILL be a player!!

Beaten by a superior team and hopefully some lessons learned.

From roosters to feather dusters, at least we are off the top of the ladder but still in the top 8.

THought McV had a pretty good second half - if our clearance rate was up it was pretty much due to him, and he used it pretty well.

Mummy was horrid - Pyke was considerably better than him. Varcoe kicked three goals on Tadhg. There were very few in the r&w who leaved Skill Stadium with any pride today I'm afraid.

Pyke was good, didn't think Mummy was horrid. Blake probably took the points in the end, but not by much. Malceski was playing on Varcoe IIRC.
