We must fight this one. I get the feeling if he had done this to a 'nobody', we wouldn't be talking about 2-3 week suspensions.

Round 7, Swans vs. Cats highlights go to 2:45 for the tackle on GAJ
Round 6, Swans vs. Lions highlights go to 2:50 for the tackle on ROK
It's one thing for the commentators to not get as excited when it happens if it doesn't appear to be as obvious, but to me it is a little puzzling that a rational panel sitting down and watching video multiple times thinks one week "no, nothing to answer- not even some carry over points" but the next week thinks "man, that's 2 weeks for that guy!" I have to say it's inconsistent to me.
Mumford is the biggest bloke involved in any of the incidents, certainly, but I don't think watching his tackle the intent is clearly to drive GAJ's head into the ground.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Shane Mumford, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a Level Three engaging in rough conduct offence against Gary Ablett, Geelong Cats, during the fourth quarter of the Round Seven match between the Sydney Swans and the Geelong Cats, played at Skilled Stadium on Sunday May 9, 2010.
In summary, he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 325 demerit points and a three-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 243.75 points and a two-match sanction.

Surely we will challenge this one. Seems way over the top."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Not sure how the club is going to challenge, perhaps a downgrading of the charge and 1 match ban is the best we can hope for.Comment

Did Mackies knee into ROK as he "stepped over him" when he was shirtfronted get picked up?Comment

FWIR he did get an arm to the ground first, before his head hit, I was surprised that he didn't manage to absorb more energy through his arm before his noggin hit the turf (which was in fantastic condition before the game. Now someone will have to go and fill in that dent. Honestly, some people...).Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment
