He's the true embodiment the 'bloods.' I hope some of the other senior players, or even the younger guys can take over in this regard because its a team characteristic we're all proud of. His words and his actions have inspired us to many wins. Thanks Kirky

It's a very sad day for the club.

Now it's time to humiliate the Hair Pullers and send out Kirky like the legend he is.

      COME ON YOU SWANNIES!!!!

Aww. Knew the day had to come eventually, but it still makes me sentimental & sniffly.

I remember watching Brett Kirk play at Box Hill oval for Port Melbourne. Thought to myself, that man will never play reserves again. I wasn't far off it.

A truly inspirational person and player.

I think the timing is right, but I know he'll finish the season off in great form, being the champion he is.

Knew this was coming sooner rather than later but dammit, I wish it wasnt so. Am feeling a bit emotional right now.

Story up now at the Swans website - http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/n...6/default.aspx. Haven't found any online links to the live press conference - hopefully someone will post here when it's up.

You know these days will come, but it doesn't make it any easier. Kirky is the Swans for me, simple as that. Hopefully this will make them rally for a fitting send-off.

Doesn't surprise me. Probably the right time. Don't want him to get shown up. Play the rest of the year and develop blokes like MOD, as well as Hanners. Bevo to numerically replace in the mids in the meantime (few here would love that!). JPK to take the next step.

Easy to replace though - we'll just need to get another in and under with a heart the size of a horse, leadership qualities of Alexander the Great and "pain immunity" as Roos calls it. (!!!)

Vale Kirky. You are a god.

                      *sniff sniff*

Really hope so, Kirk has been so much for the team & fans, he really deserves a Swan song

Let's hope 2010 ends up being a successful farewell to a player who has been the spirit of the team for nearly a decade. I think the timing was all about refocusing the team and getting us back to that win at all costs type of passion for the rest of the season.

Not our best player, but certainly close to our most important for a number of years, hopefuly he stays with the club in a coaching capacity, I think he could be an amazing coach.

As for the future, we rebuilt and went onto great things after Paul Kelly and I am sure we will again after Kirky, but always a strange feeling when you lose a true clubman.

Sad Sad day, I remember him first running on, hopefully we will see him get into another GF. I hope the club find a job for him, so he can still be an inspiration.

?He?s been an ornament to the game, and has been in the top three in our club championship every year since 2003,?? Ireland said.

I know he's pretty but ornament?
