Well, I've got everyone around me chanting "maaaaaggggggooooooooottttttttsssssssssssssssssssss s" every time they make a bad decision and heartily boo along with me.

There's a reason they get security to escort the maggots off the ground after some games.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

BBB and Thompson get fines for brawling and Mumford gets two weeks for tackling Jnr...I wonder if it would have been the same if BBB was still a Swan.

No. Barry had history in the Swans colours, plus Roos would not have stood up for Barry in the media as Eade did.

A game that gives me a sort of reaction where i absolutely want to kill the umpire in all sorts of ways possible can not be healthy.

And the sad thing is i have tried to control the anger but i can't..i find it hard.
That reminds me of when I was a teenager living at home following the Swans when they were down the bottom of the ladder. I used to go crazy watching the television on a weekly basis (sometimes at our lack of skill, sometimes at the umpires) and one week my mum walked past the lounge room and dryly said, ?why don?t you just support another team?? in a rhetorical tone.

By that stage I did not have the energy to argue the reasons why that could not occur as I was exasperated. But subsequently I did spend a lot of time outside during the breaks kicking the football to myself in the winter cold just to get rid of my angst and frustration.

If later this year I find myself getting towards your level of anger KirkysSocks, I might start kicking the ball around during the breaks again ? either that or my wife will kick me out of our apartment.

I wonder if the red in our guernsey is like a red flag...? Maybe the umpires need to be aware that Red is not Danger.... and give free kick against us!

Oh please... Roos complained on many occasions about the treatment meted out to Hall and the lack of protection from Umpires.

its a vicious circle really - if the club keeps going to King Geishan with concerns, we are branded whingers & we get stiffed as a result, yet if we dont complain - we still cop it. Did we get this much of a raw deal when Goldspink & Allen were running around ?(my memory is fading!)
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I think what the Hall reaction demonstrates is that when it happens to a Melbourne club the AFL acts. When it happens to the swans absolutely nothing happens. We should never forget that Hall was being illegally held and niggled all night by Staker before he clocked him. It happened to him every game. In a similar vein with Adam Goodes, he's arms have been repeatedly chopped in attack but nothing was done about it until it was too late.

And finally the decision against Bevan which effectively ruined the game in the third quarter was given by an umpire who was completely unsighted - i know this as i was sitting down that end. If the AFL actually enforced its' own rules it should have cited the Freo player for staging.

That would give me much greater confidence that the AFL aren't just a bunch of bum coverers ... because if they did they would have to admit their umpire got it wrong.

I am starting to think with betting agencies being one of the major sponsors of AFL atm that there isn't something going on. It just doesn't make sense at all. We can't even question the AFL as they are a law upon themselves and think it's their god dam right to impose fines at willy nilly.

I was at the Hawthorn game last year where bbbh copped the three 50 metre penalties. i was about 25 metres from the first one (and progrssively further away for each of the others). The reaction of the media against the North players for "baiting" BBBH is 180 degrees different to what it was with sam mitchell and others last year - BBBH was baited by hawkers the whole way and while he may have whacked mitchell (and i think he deserved it even more than thompson did on the weekend) that was provoked in a completely typical manner. To say that BBBH was surrounded by a pack of hawkers that day was obvious and little different. In my view BBBH has been adopted by the melbourne media as a local and deserving protection.

I am absolutely convinced that if mumford had been playing with a melbourne club and he'd tackled brett kirk in that way there would have been media outrage against the decision as opposed to the very belated and half hearted reaction that transpired.

I don't believe that this means we are conspired against. i do believe we get the rough end of the pineapple a lot more often. (with the exception of hall/maguire 2005 which counts for a bit)

I posted in another thread on this subject ("waiting for MRP results") but should have probably put the reply here.

Anyway, it's such a glaring difference between how Hall is being treated as a Bulldogs player than when he was with us as Melbournehammer's post so eruditely suggests.

Would be good if the AFL/MRP could view some of these opinions. The Melbourne media and commentators seem to have far more sway than anyone here in Sydney.

Roos came out a few times on Barry's behalf and was probably considered a whinger. Eade on the other hand, is listened to.

You can't win with victorians, what ever you say they will ridicule you and belittle you because you are a sydney fan and to them you are nothing short of a bandwagoner, the tired old swans stereotype. You are also treated as someone who has no right to voice an opinion let alone have one, because you know you are from sydney and should go back to watching the bum sniffers if you don't like it.

When you point out the inconsistency you are dismissed with another tired olf reply "it's been happening in footy for years" or you are quickly reminded about "cap concessions" "gifted flag" and of course hall/mcguire 2005.

They really are outstanding in making you feel like your opinion is worthless these non victorian swans, especially collingwood and essendon fans.

Yep. Happened not far from where I sit in the Churchil. I yelled (screamed) out to the ump "how could you possibly see!!!!????"
