Ok lets be all optimistic again, whats that, 5 years in a row now we havent beaten the pies or even come close? Yeah this year will be the year! We can't even beat the doggies and the pies have beaten the dogs twice this year.

I rather go in with no expectations except knowing we most likely will be beaten and anything other than will be a great positive. I don't see us even coming close to the pies this year..will be the same @@@@ as every year. Pies come out and from the centre bounce will just be aggressive and bully..we crumble..collingwood take the breaks off for a while..tease us..we kick a few goals in the 4th but didak or thomas will find a way to kick a couple of goals and once again we loose. Roosy will just be conservative rather than be proactive and we will then come on here and bitch about how sick and tired we all are about collingwood. There will mulitple LRT threads blasting him as unco a hack etc etc.

thats the way it has been for the past 5 years and i can't see things changing this year..well not atm.

Honestly, your pessimism is incredible! We had a win this week so you and a few others have to find something dour to bang on about so hey presto, it's Collingwood and how they're going to smash us by five thousand and fifty points.
Perhaps they will beat us, but perhaps they won't. I'm a glass half full type of person and you and your mates quite obviously are not and if that's the way you wish to live your lives then good for you, but I truly believe that being a supporter of a team means that you face every game with hope and optimism.
Sure it's disappointing when we don't win and really quite shattering when we play like we did against the Dogs and Freo, but I actually get some joy from my team and when I see the performance of our cygnets V Hawks and our whole team V Bombers, it builds me up to think that anything is possible.
BTW it's only four years in a row they have beaten us, we beat them by one point in 05.

Soory love but i am realist. I don't like setting myself up with so much optimism for it to fail consistently. I have faith in our boys and i certainly always try and feel confident when we play..BUT the reality is we are just not good enough ATM to beat the pies. Thats the reality..if we play the way we have been playing in the past 5 weeks which has seen us revert to our boring mundane defensive approach then we won't even go near. Roosy sometimes plays this way to save us from being thrashed...and it's annoying.

If we come out in the first 5 mins and just play a different style and take the pies on i will be confident..BUT like every year it's the same thing..pies dominate us from the first bounce.

As i said but have been ignored by the reggis..there are a few factors we need in beating the pies. We need the crowd to be ACTIVE and FERAL from the bounce, the boys lift and the pies hate it..they crumble when they don't get support. But as always the sydney crows wake up in the 4th qrt when there is about 10 mins to go..and it's to late.

          I will say it again.

They have 22, we have 22. I see that the majority of teams are so closely matched, except for a couple at the top and bottom which the Pies are of course part of. But on any given day, any team can win. Right attitude and lack of injuries or some injuries for them and it's anyone's game.

Why can't it be this year?

The thing about following the Swans for a lifetime is it brings out the optimist in most of us and NOTHING is impossible. Think about how beaten and ridiculously impossible it was to get ahead of Geelong to get into the '05 GF and pulling out a win with 3 seconds to go. NOTHING is impossible, it's just doubly disappointing to be beaten by the Pies that's all.

kirkysocks i think you should go have a look at the definitions of a realist and a pessimist, i think you will find that you fit more comfortably into the latter definition

Paul Roos fits more into the realist definition, in fact you might actually find his picture in there!

A lot of hyper sensitive people in society atm. If you don't say what they want to hear then your either negative or a pessimist and no room for anything else.

I'm so pleased that the players in our team don't have the glass-half-empty attitude that some on this list have. Otherwise the players wouldn't even bother to turn up for the Pies game!

I agree with you, realistically ,unless Collingwood don't turn up for the game,at this point of time ,it will be more of the same and yet another bottle of red will go to The Mr.Collingwood on our staff from me! He will rub it in and I will have to wear it.

What I optimistically look forward to is

1.Can we at least match them in intensity
2.Can some of our team plays be as good as there's always are against us.
                  3. Can the young boys take on the might of Collingwood and stand up and be counted.
4.Will Roos coach to win the game and not to just stop us getting thrashed.
5.Will the backline not allow any stupid errors to result in gimme goals to the Pies.

                  then....
                  1.Will Collingwood wobble?
                  2. Maybe a key player for them might be off form
3.Didak and Medhurst might not have their kicking boots on
                  4. Collingwood might have a slack attitude that we are "easybeats"

                  then......................
                  1.The Umpires like us
                  2.the crowd gets behind us
                  3.Goodsey plays a blinder
4.TDL kicks 7 as he is under the radar

                  then............WE WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has already happened a few times this year.

I pray, I pray that for the first time in 5 years a couple of Collingwood players don't play at their absolute best against us....we seem to bring out the best in them. They are human, they do actually have poor games....just not against us in living memory. Added to which we always seem to get stage fright and play way below our best. So maybe if we can at least arrive with intensity that might be a enough to turn everything around.

The reality is we are still not good enough to beat the pies the way we should.

And you know which player always stands up and has a blinder against us and we are the only team that makes him look like a down and out superstar?

                              DALE THOMAS.

I hope he pulls up before the game...cause its always him and didak the squib who seem to destroys us.
