No criticism of Richard Colless & Co but it is a bit disappointing we have not been able to get to 30K members every year to have a really solid financial base

Personally been a member since 93, but would be sure if Swans had 6-7 games in Melb every year (as the supporters were promised) Swans could get 8-10K Vic members every year - meaning 0 games in Geelong but 6-7 at Etihad and MCG

I don't think GWS is all bad for Sydney but it does increase the challenges

Swans have positioned themselves as the AFL love child in Sydney in terms of media etc, we even have pro-league media up here at the moment "worried about the swans". Colless and the Swans admin have been quite cunning in how they have utilised the media, it's quite impressive actually and should mean GWS stay away from our playing group and the AFL take extra care in how we are managed.

would be interesting to see the books, where our main sources of income are, main expenses. Do we still spend the most on our football department in the afl?

Sydney just isn't ready for 2 AFL clubs - looks like the AFL are going to learn this the hard way and I hope this doesn't affect the Swans too badly in the long term....

Colless is a divisive figure and from what I've heard less than popular in the big end of town.

Notwithstanding his long and generally good service to the club, perhaps a change is in order.

Works for free and has put in a lot of money without any publicity. Been a great servant and unless someone "Eddie" style came along, I'd have no interest in changing.

I don't think popularity in the big end is a pre for many CEO spots in this town..plenty disliked, even hated, ppl hold those positions successfully..being liked doesn't run companies. I do not sugg

I don't disagree with "being liked doesn't run companies", but it does help when your company relies financially to a large extent on... well... being liked!

According to reports last year, our guernsey is sponsored for around 3 million a year, which was the highest at the time, so even if he is "disliked" at the top end of town, it doesn't seem to be hurting any relationships the club have formed or maintained in the 16 odd years he has been the Chairman.

Having a creative CEO is the key I reckon, hopefully Andrew Ireland can do a few things out of left field to give our club some additional revenue streams and assets. The great cash hope that is Club Swans may provide something, but has been hit with bad luck story after bad luck story so far.

I have no idea whether people like or dislike him, to be perfectly honest. The dollar figures for geurnsey sponsorship are indeed excellent, but I think it's still reasonable to say that if people in the big end of town actually dislike the president then it isn't a great thing.

I'd love more matches in Victoria, and I agree it would encourage more melbourne supporters to join up, even if you pay more to cover the game, it still looks better on paper to see more melbourne games.

and why do we year in year out have to play Geelong down there? why not another vic side @ their home?

Also what the hell is our membership numbers, we rarely see the figure....
