Difference being with the internet you choose what content you wish to view, with FTA you are basically told what to watch.

Did i really need to explain it?

If all you've ever drunk is VB, then I'd agree with you. Plenty of quality beers out there though.

Anyway, on topic, the government needs to sort out the anti-siphoning laws. My understanding (which I freely admit is limited, so if somebody knows better, please correct me) is that anti-siphoning laws prevent "secondary" channels like One from broadcasting major live sports events unless the main channel is too. This is ridiculous, and greatly reduces the utility of channels like One, Seven2, Seven3, etc.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

FTA/PAY split is announced same time as the draw in October. Not saying it is right or fair, but we have known the deal for over 12 months, plus Foxtel and AFL isn't going anywhere. Eventually we will have pay as you go internet coverage from FTA and PAY, but until then options are pretty clear and not about to change.

More Sydney games at 2pm Sunday in Sydney will give Melbourne more FTA, that's what all Melbourne fans should be asking the Club to request more of. Sat day or night games means it is totally in the hands of Ten and Foxtel to decide.

Swans have been on prob 2-3 times in Adelaide this year. Even when we play early sunday games like against Geelong n they don't have anything scheduled til 4pm when adel/port played they decided to not to show any games.

I don't think that is necessarily correct. Seven has the Sunday games on FTA at the moment and they like to have their broadcast run into their news at 6pm, which is why they show delayed broadcasts of Melbourne games as their preference.

They would still delay an interstate match 3-6 in Melbourne even if it was a 2pm start. The AFL have given them all Melbourne games for the 2.10pm slot but there is really no reason why they have to, they still delay Friday night matches from Brisbane or Adelaide into Melbourne.

We have a similiar problem in Sydney with some teams, if the Swans play at 1pm on a Sunday, C7 show the game at 1pm, and so do Foxtel, and we don't get the FTA game at all until it's replayed on Foxtel. Would be a much bigger problem in Perth and Adelaide for fans of non local teams though especially with two teams having their Foxtel games flipped over to FTA all the time.

Same in WA, we get the Essendon game AGAIN. To make it worse there's no game on at all during the day because of the Queen's Birthday game

True. But that might cause more complaints from some (and it is also possible that the scheduled times are the way they are because the networks asked for them that way).

I'd rather have live action than delayed (particularly the way Seven does it on Sundays, which is different from their Friday setup - sometimes they have about 12 ads between goals! If the game is in Melbourne, I can just go to the ground, otherwise I'd prefer to see it live, even if it was only on Foxtel (or I could have a lemonade at the pub). If Seven ran their Sunday (interstate) games live there would be no problem with your suggestion from my point of view.

Thats every round this year essendon have been shown on FTA. Does dimwit own the companies that sponsor the bummers? Does he have shares in 3?
I'd have to disagree with you. Essendon were not on FTA last weekend, they were playing us!

Oh , and btw, the cable coverage is great..NO ads during the play. And nothing is worse than having the flow of the game stopped completely at every goal by FTA ads. Nothing comes for nothing these days![/QUOTE]
