    swans on FTA outside sydney

This is becoming a joke in Melbourne. Again for the 12th week in a row Essendong get their game on FTA.

Thats every round this year essendon have been shown on FTA. Does dimwit own the companies that sponsor the bummers? Does he have shares in 3?

What a corrupt and pathetic organisation the AFL is. Brilliant TV deal. And no doubt shown against the gate in adelaide..and they wonder why port people don't show up. It seems logic was handed out in spades by dimwit and his boy wonder down at AFL house.

Bugger this i am watching the WC..the truly beautiful game.

BTW i am NOT repeat NOT paying to watch TV so a cable corporation can then throw as much advertising at me.

What are the ratings in Melbourne for Swans games compared to Essendon games?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

K if you can afford cable , give it more thought . If you REALLY want to see the swans, you're going to see less and less of them on FTA, esp when the next tv is signed.
You're entitled to your thoughts on paying to see ads , but it's the way of the world...nothing is going to change it.
Oh , and btw, the cable coverage is great..NO ads during the play. And nothing is worse than having the flow of the game stopped completely at every goal by FTA ads. Nothing comes for nothing these days!

Would be the same as any of the big 4 clubs. Even Collingwood arn't been shown every week like the bummers. And somehow they have done it with no one blinking an eye..had it been collingwood..ala laaa.

Essendong are very very very shifty..they do things on the sly..always have.

Telstra will be launching an option very soon for those who do not want Foxtel. But I can appreciate your frustration. IPTV like options are going to be the solution I think
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Two? Didn't think two FTA channels ever played games in the same timeslot.

I'm a little uncomfortable at having my remarks construed as indicating my country is a 'corporate dictatorship'.
In fact. I'm not that happy with the AFL being compared to a nazi organisation.
I merely suggested you may give it some thoiught..please do not put words in my mouth.

Well face the facts, it is.

                      Qantas Socceroos anyone?

anyway thats OT and for another discussion.

There is no option of giving thought to pay tv..sorry but TV is a big NO NO for me except for watching my team play. I will not support the media or any FTA or pay TV at all, well not in this country anyway.

We had a thread on this earlier in the year... which I think has now disappeared into the ether.

I agree that it is unfortunate that we do not get more FTA games on TV, but that is partly due to the fact that the networks chose which games they were going to show well before the season started (except for round 22) when most people thought that we would be sliding down the ladder. Other than that I am not entirely sure what your beef is with the AFL / TV / Essendon etc.

When I looked at the guide earlier in the year, the FTA / Foxtel split was exactly reversed for the Bombers and the Swans. But that is the nature of commercial enterprises. Would you prefer that we just had the one match of the round and highlights of the others, as we used to in Victoria? Even though it is called FTA, that does not make those stations non-commercial. What do you want them to do?

They all paid big bucks to the AFL for the rights to show the games, which in the end means we usually get to see much more of the footy than in days gone by. When we were flying of course we used to be featured just about every week on FTA (except for pre-season games).

If two FTA networks had bid Foxtel out of the running it would be a different story, but even then we might not get to see as many games live (there are swings and roundabouts here).

Not that it is perfect, but there is also the option to watch the game at the pub.

I am not going to any pub as i don't drink beer..filthy stuff.

I like to watch football in my own personal space thanks.

Less TV in my household the better, TV rots the brain. Paying for TV is just not an option for everyone.

My beef with the AFL is they continuously give a free ride to vic teams in what is meant to be a national competition.

They talk about expansion, they talk about spreading the game to all frontiers and at the end of it it's still a victorian sport and pampered to only victorians.

                          Stupidity at it's finest.

KS, just move back to Sydney. The coverage is great up here.

Watched last nights game live on Main Event, will watch this afternoons game live and the swans tonight live after watching the first quarter of the Bummers/Cats live, switch over at half time of Swannies and watch third quarter of Bummers/Cats live, then watch tomorrows early game live, switching during breaks to the middle game live, then the twilight game live. Finish the weekend off watching the Pies/Dees game live on Monday. It will be my least favoured live game to watch because I have to put up with those bloody ads after every goal.

Yep, easy, move back to Sydney.

                            On second thoughts, no, don't.
