I thought Jess was good - provided an excellent contest all night. Would liked to have seen more leading from him, but for all we know he was acting under instructions.

ROK's best game in weeks too huh? And Big Mike's best game ever I'd say. All in all, our best footy for a number of weeks - the team looked much better balanced with McGlynn and Vespa in.

That's it. The team seemed to function better with 2 tall forwards. Do you say Playfair was not up to being the 3rd tall - or do you say with the inclusion of Vespremi and McGlynn the team looked better balanced?

Do you keep 2 forwards, assuming Bradshaw will replace White, or continue with 3 forwards, which worked well at the start of the year?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

I have actually been thinking this too. He is still definitely best 22, but I think it might be time to surrender the centre bounces to Kennedy, Bird, Jack, Hanners, and maybe Smith (as well as Jude and Macca, who are already there full time). I wouldn't mind seeing him up forward more, to be honest. He has a surprisingly good goal sense and is an accurate (if not all that long!) set shot, and would be more than capable of shutting down a HBF and providing that all-important "defensive pressure". From memory it's also where he started his career. He could work up the ground and bark instructions, but if he bases himself around the HFF, it might make our midfield that little more effective. At the moment Hanners and Bird are often setting up in the forwardline, and it seems a little bit of a waste.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I dont know how anyne can think that White was anything other than useless tonight. If Bradshaw plays against the Pies I'd be dropping White for sure. White's game was summed up by a dropped mark in the 4th, despite three attempts to grab it, then pinged for holding the ball when he picked it up. Rubbish.

Mumford was sensational. He, along with Hanners and Rohan, are potential future superstars.

I think the selectors need to treat White with a bit of kid's gloves. No doubt he was poor againt Port; notably he couldn't take a mark, probably due to the dewy conditions. Yet, when he is hot, his very good, witness for example the first half of last season's Docklands game againt Carlton. I think the selectors regret dropping him a few weeks ago for the Freo game. If the Swans have a fit Bradshaw, and White when he is in form, (which is about 50% of the time), along with a quality small forward in McGlynn, they can be very dangerous up forward.

Noting the likely inclusion of Bradshaw and Shaw for the Collingwood game, I would leave out Bevan and Hannerbury, the latter not because of form, but with that shoulder injury, he needs an extra week's rest.

Shoulders, he seemed to hurt the left one last night and I quite sure it was the right one that popped out in the Blions game.

Seemed odd they put him back on the ground for the last 5-10 mins, when the game was over. He was obviously in pain at every contest.
Good to see Kirk, Malceski, Okeefe and Goodes get back to some good form. While Mummy was once again fantastic.
Even Pyke some good marks, and rucked well.

I agree. But this kid is something else; he was afterall deemed good enough to play for the Swans while still in school uniform after the club cleared it with his parents so I would be surprised if putting him back on the ground was done without due care.

I surmise that he is one of those Kell types who can play through pain, and he was given the chance to see what he could do while the game was already in the bag. Doubt this is a whilly nilly issue.

Re Jesse. He did not have a stand out game, but he did a job and did not spectate. He is not a natural footballer, but he does work his butt off. Not always effectively but he has improved so much and now doesn't give up if his first effort doesn't work; his second is now quick, and sometimes effective. It will all come together one day, bit by bit. He is just sooo much better this game than he was in equivalent ones last year. Its starting to emerge. Slowly. Very very slowly.

MikePyke has to be given a tick. Still got lots of holes in his game, but the boys know what they are and work around them to his strengths. Good team stuff and a rooster of a kick!

Yeah I thought he was good, scary, but good! Only a couple of clear mistakes (that throw was fantastic haha), and seemed to know where to present last night which was great to watch and from a tap point of view, he is rather effective. I can't wait for Seaby to come back though, the Mummy/Seaby combo going into the finals should be massive.

In all fairness to him, I don't think his throw was as bad as the one by Pearce (I think it was him) that was missed by the umps.

Agree about being keen for Seaby to come back, I really like to have a ruckman that can pinch hit up forward and Mummy and Mike don't seem to have that in their arsenal.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
