    Swans to play in finals

I believe that the Swans will be in the final eight this year with just the its position to be determined. Historically the teams that are in the top eight at the halfway point are usually team same for the finals.

I am hoping that the team ends up in 3rd or 4th spot, but realistically I think that they will finish either 5th or 6th. By playing finals again (and hopefully winning) this will be a fitting end to both Paul Roos and the courageous warrier Brett Kirk and also a great stepping stone for John Longmire when he takes the reins.

I think 3rd or 4th is being a bit overly optimistic but I think we're a great chance of 5/6 with a home final. Lets just hope we've copped our full seasons worth of injuries in the first half of the year and all our boys are fit and firing come finals time. If they are, the super optimist in me says we can do anything!

We'll get a good indication of our form between rounds 18 and 21 when we play the same four sides we had consecutive losses to leading into the finals. Hopefully when it comes to these games, we won't be in a position of needing to win to be able to make the eight, but rather needing to win in order to make the four.

If this is a state the obvious thread - I can add: all of Hannebery, Meredith, Bird, Kennedy, Smith and Rohan will be very good players. Yes, 6 players - same number required for the midfield. Coincidence?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Its all very simple really. Beat the maggots and we can make the granny, lose and we can't. BUT no one will beat Geelong the way they are playing at the moment.

My thoughts are that the only team that will beat Geelong is Geelong.
I think they're prone to big heads and it may come back and bite them on the bum.

If we beat Collingwood I won't mind Geelong or anyone else winning the GF. Having said that, our best side, uninjured, is capable of beating any team. They have to have self-belief, and I believe in them. Just know they can smash the pies. Can't wait.

i think we should just win every game for the rest of the year, then we will be premiers

I said at the start of the year that my hope would be to beat the Pies 3 times. Anything else is just gravy.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Let's be honest ... they've gotta pull their socks up higher than their balls if they wanna play in the granny this year.

Finals fodder. (But at least we'll get there and the criminal budgies won't - I'm happy with that.)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Sheesh !! sounds uncomfortable. My team is fodder for no-one.

That would be a good look - and warm.

After last year's disappointment I'd be happy with making it to the second week of the finals.

At the beginning of the season I thought Swans would win 13 games but now I reckon they'll win 12 (five from the next ten).

I'd be pretty disappointed from here if we miss the finals. I don't expect anything more than probably 7th or 8th, and if we hit some good form sneak a home final in 6th. That would imo constitute a very good season, and be a good step towards challenging for the 4 next year (Which I think we can, seeing how well our younger players are starting to play.)
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

I'm confident that the Swans will win 12 games and make it to September. So it seems are the bookies, who have them at $1.55 to make the final 8.

My only note of caution is that in the past 2 seasons, (completely out of step with seasons 1995 to 2007), the Swans went downward in the second half of the year:

In 2008 they were 8 wins, 5 losses at Round 13, but then proceeded to lose 6 of their next 8 games. In 2009 they were 5 wins, 4 losses at Round 9, but then proceeded to lose 10 of their last 13 games.
