Last weeks game wasn't the type of game you'd expect Bulldog to star in. It was a 20 goal romp, whereas a tight physical game may have seen him show more of what we like to see from him.

The fact that he showed he was over his injury is enough to see him get the callup.

Vespa must be feeling the effects of that late injury (corkie?) from last week. Impossible to fathom his omission from the 25 otherwise.

Looks OK - from the bench my preference in bold:

I/C (from): Paul Bevan, Craig Bird, Trent Dennis-Lane, Daniel Hannebery, Brett Meredith, one of Henry Playfair, Mike Pyke

If Bradshaw out, then both of Henry & Myke. The outs seem about right, but you can add Bevo to the scrapheap.

In: Bradshaw, Kennelly, Denise-Lane and Moore

Out: White, Jetta, Rohan and Pyke

Play Grundy on Reiwoldt and have LRT releive in the ruck or play down back when either Patterson or Vickery venture forward.

Almost our best team on the park, just swap C Bolton for Bevan and Seaby for one of the runners and it's a very strong line up.

Surely Playfair gets a game before Pyke.

Looks like TDL and Gourdis were team-mates as juniors

So he will mix in with the seniors perfectly.

Presumably Playfair is only cover for Bradshaw.

Not sure why Playfair and Bevan are in the 25 when Rohan isn't.

TDL deserves a game this week and can consider himself very hard done by if he doesn't.

Dropping Jetta and White was probably a good move.

I was hoping TDL was in for Bradshaw AND everybody else.

What is going on if Playfair plays?

I think it can be safely assumed that TDL is in the 22 to play.

As for Playfair, if Bradshaw does not come up then we will need another forward and at this point in time (with White out of form and Johnstone a couple of weeks away form being considered for the seniors) Playfair is it for back-up forwards.

I have no issue with that, if Johnstone can stay injury free then within the next 9 weeks Playfair won't be the back-up forward anymore.

This article in The Age seems to give a good insight into what the coach is thinking in relation to the selection of this week's team and beyond (based on the quotes):

Young Swans hit for six in aftermath of loss to Pies

No real surprises. Except perhaps no mention of Ves. Hope to see TDL take his first step. Very very pleased to see Bulldog's name on the probables, he is a smart man and a good player, we need him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Henry in the mix, he was faaarrrr better in the ressies game than Jesse was in his game.
Can Not see Pyke being dropped. He is a flaming good backup ruckman, and getting better each game around the ground (that's the key detractors, he keeps improving, he has not plateaued). This will be an interesting game. Surfice to say, I don't think we will make the final 2.

Thanks for the link M10 - again, a Swans story in the online edition that's not in the print edition. My reading of Roos' comments is that Bradshaw won't get up, so we are likely to see TDL make his firsts debut. I hope he does. The downside is that Adam Goodes has to play as a marking forward and I want him in the midfield. Who else do we try as a second tall? A resting ruckman?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
