Is that another KISS OF DEATH for another draft pick?

      Hush.

Jet's will be ok. He definately HAS the talent people ... I think he was probably rushed into the senior side. Give him time.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

        Bit harsh Liz.

Well, I woke before the birds (that's the feathered type and not Craig's family) and left home on the Central Coast at 8:30 am and Mr Magoo was at the SCG by 9:30am.

In my seat as the game started. My thoughts on today in know particular order except how the memory spits it up:

        1. Campbell Heath hurt his ankle at the end of the 2nd qtr and hobbled off. Back in 3rd qtr running, then the injury came back late in final qtr and hobbled off again. At the end of the day his right ankle had a bag of ice strapped to it.

        2. Jetta kicked 2 goals and each time he did all his team mates yelled out and cheered and ran over to him. After the 2nd goal, Sumner actually picked him up off the ground.

        3. Sumner will become the new birdman of the AFL. Just missed 2 speccies, flying up over the pack undre the Brewongle. Nearly dropped my canape.

        4. Kruger didn't play today but Emery is showing real potential. Couple of wobbly kicks but last week proved he could kick goals.

        5. Reid and Emery did most if not all of the ruckwork in tandem.

        6. Reid will be far better than his brother with the mugpies. KP defender in the making and a very good one.

        7. Gordon was very good today and was into everything.

        8. Barlow. Ed didn't do anything outstanding today. Don't hold your breath for a first greade return. Made lots of mistakes and in my opinion was the worse on the ground out of the senior list players.

        9. Jesse was a monster and his tallest opponent was about chin high to him. He did monster the forward line. In the first half he seemed to be playing FF whilst LJ was playing a CHF role. They switched in the second half.

        10. Jetta was above everybody on the ground. I disagree with Liz with her comments. As his confidence grows and experience at AFL level, he will work it out.

        11. Ressies kicked 20.20. Too many behinds.

        12. Vez was very good today as well, playing mainly forward.

        13. Gilchrist stood out and was involved a fair bit as well.

        14. Not to forget LJ with his electro-static hairstyle makes kicking goals look very easy

I thought an emergency player sat out the second half or last quarter, but all 3 played right up to the end.

We can agree to disagree on Jetta. We can agree his second half was very good. And my comment was intended to suggest he won't be a good AFL player. I just think it will always be more about quality than quantity with him.

Do agree with you that Gilly had a decent game. Probably the best I've seen him play this year.

Kruger did play. Didn't do much but either he (or his doppelganger) was out there.

You might be right. A fellow near me said he wasn't out there. He said he was really good last time at ANZ. So I didn't look for 50.

This is an observation, during the kiddies day last Wednesday, the kids went for their autograph. My son had a new jumper without a signature. The first table he went to had Jude, Goodes and then Jetta. Jetta signed his name on the Opera house bit. He'll get there.

For you oldies, how does he compare to Jamie Lawson? I never actually saw him play. Wasn't Lawson a very quick midfielder as well?

He probably played in front for a change.

Not always, the thing is he can play behind in this league and outmark the defender.

Watched much of the Doggies game and Hall played in front EVERY time. White is bound to be recalled and if he is a monster as many say, then he has to learn to play in front because few defenders could get around him.

Yep, Jesse's "kick it over their heads and I'll mark it, no worries" approach doesn't fall apart at this level. I worry he won't learn another strategem (or improve on this one) in the magoos.

I will agree with you Liz.

Laconic without the ball is a good description. He looks really good with the ball and once he finds his feet has enought talent to make a decent fist of a being a long term senior player.

However, he is never going to be a high posession winner and therefore to survive at senior level he will need to chase, harass, pressure and generally frieghten the bejuses out of defenders when he doesn't have the ball. If he doesn't get that side of his game right then he will be lucky to last a couple of years.

In the end it will be like Moore, has the talent but on the edge of never making it until he understood the work required off the ball to cement a spot in the side.

He should be told any mark he takes from behind at this level he should hand to the opposition defender and do 20 push ups.

                            PLAY IN FRONT!

He only needs to look at the Ranga to see how to use your pace without the ball...is he being lazy?

Jamie was known as The Flea. He would get the ball, quick as a flash, dance around, and have no real idea of what to do next. Apparently he had the old stagers in fits.

Unfortunately his broken leg was the end of it all. Including the chance to become an elite player.

Now, my notes will be up shortly; after I have had breakfast and spoken to the gardeners out there (my Body Corporate Job - I'm a bit of a bully). Not a great deal to add, and am completely grateful to whoever has organised the Swans to actually put a decent match report on line. Later.
