Aker - you are a legend and I'll gladly shout you a coffee , or bottle of peroxide , if you get up to Sydney.
Don't know the ins and outs of the situation , don't care.
Only know that he entertained on and off the field.

He talks rubbish ? Anyone recall his suggestion in 2006 that the Kangas relocate to Tokyo ?
Yes , even now that sounds stupid - but one day , it may be considered visionary.

And let's not forget R20 , 2005 - we thrashed Brisbane , but Aker was one of their best players - even though he hid his injury and kicked on his "wrong" foot all day.

We may never see his like again . I , for one , am saddened by that thought.

Great player. A true character. AFL has just got more clinical. Looking forward to the next enthralling good news headline story coming out of another AFL, club coached, mouth.

        True, not many characters left.
He was unique, but it's no longer about the individuals, as we've seen over the last few years.

Mercurial player. I loved watching him play. Often his skills were beyond belief. He's a very colourful character, and he's probably crossed the line with the Dogs. Seems he had a bit of sadness, but in fifteen minutes had moved on to the next stage of his career.
He's going to sit between Barry Hall and Jonathon Brown on the Footy Show tonite, should be fun.

He's having a great big public cry today about how he's been so hard done by. BOO HOO Aker you total tosser. If you wanna play as an individual rather than part of a team go take up golf.

Maybe. I just wonder why he has so few friends (according to his own comments) from either the Lions or the Bulldogs, if he's really such a great character. Sounds more like a dick who thinks he's a character and the rest of the world are too insipid to understand his greatness. Kind of like the people who audition for Idol, can't sing, then rant about the judges being stupid, or afraid to have such a big star as them on their show...

Now who am I going to pick on?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I'd call it an off topic thread hijack, now being sanctioned by a moderator.

Classic narcissist. Hysterically funny that he likens himself to Kevin Rudd. I'm going to miss him. I always enjoyed the extra colour he bought to the greater AFL world and don't imagine that we've seen the end of him. The comments around his VFL opponent were a step to far IMO so he definitely needed to pull his head in.

He's definitely a one in a million in terms of talent - some of his feats were incredible.

I do have a good story about Aker so he's not all bad. My brother in law manages a womens AFL rep team. Last year they were touring Vic and were training at the dogs facilities post the seniors main session.
Aker hung back and had a watch. He then offered to run some skills sessions with the girls and also offered to turn up and give a game address for their game. Which he did all unprompted and off his own back with a heap of doggie goodies to share around.
The girls were absolutely blown away by his generosity.

That was actually quite funny You don't miss a beat ROK!

It's all very strange. He's a guy who shoots his mouth off, can be brilliant on the field, but apart from the narcissistic tendencies and the ability to make headlines for the wrong reasons he doesn't have any real off-field indiscretions that warranted his sacking. It can only be a political decision to me. This was likely to be his last year, but shame he had to go out that way.
