I loved how condescending Brian Taylor was on fox footy teams at us currently sitting in sixth position , basically insuating that we are a well coached bunch of hacks. If thats not motivation to start beating a few higher teams I dont know what is.

I reckon. I think his comment was "How did the Swans end up in 6th spot?" Did anyone notice that it was reported elsewhere that the Swans finally beat a team above them on the ladder last weekend - Carlton?

Brian Taylor has had to find something else to say about the Swans.

It was always 'Mike Pyke - cannot play' blah, blah, blah.

He's very silent on that front all of a sudden.

All one has to do is look at the old footage of BT going off at the umpire to see what intelligence level he operates at.

I'd put them in with the Cats, we'd be more likely to knock of Freo than the Dogs, But I'd like to think I'm wrong.
I'd agree. The insipid bloody performance of LRT and Reg on Baz was scary. If we are going to beat them those boys had better get ugly fast.

Think we'll be lucky to finish 6th. At this stage of the season with games against Geelong, Hawthorn, Dogs and Freo coming up and ladder positions on the line, win lose or draw the big game experience in front of big crowds will be invaluable for the younger swans. I hope the powers that be have confidence in enough of the younguns and expose them to these types of games. This year was always about the future regardless if we finished 1st or 16th and I think there has been plenty of positives there. Despite this would be good to play more than one final.

Its a very tough run home. We have to win tomorrow and we need to beat Brisbane, and then I think the big one is Hawthorn at home. I think we can win at least 3 of the last 6. I'd be delighted with a home final out of this season, but just making the finals would be a very good result as we have blooded a lot of new players this year, and have had a significant turnover of players.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

                          Better than a Hawthorn win.

Listening to the games this Saturday afternoon the more I see how we have to join the winning big boys and not be one of the also rans. That requires a win against the Cats, Dogs, Freo or Hawks. Unless we get one or more of those we really are just finals bait. Good teams are rising so now's the time to show our credentials - and with our injuries that may be too big an ask. When is LRT back? Braddy would be handy, too - or an in-form Jesse building from last weekend.

In our last six games we (from this vantage point) are favourites in 2 (Melbourne and Brisbane away) and proper underdogs in 2 (Geelong and Freo) and even money in 2 (Hawthorn and Bulldogs) Both the Hawthorn and Bulldogs games are at the SCG - so why not? We haven't beaten any kind of top four side for 3 years or so (that is to say any team that was in the top 4 when we beat them or ended up in the top 4 in a year when we beat them)...but surely these things have to turn around at SOME stage. Also all the teams are a bit tired (except Collingwood who we don't play till the Grand final according to my ladder predictor....when we play the greatest GF of all time and beat them with a long range bomb from Jesse White after the siren!).

The Geelong game is at home...they are a bit tired and not travelling happily at the moment. Others have upset them interstate, why not us?

The main answer to all my "why nots?" is Bradshaw, Seaby, Bolton and Smith...

Freo are still Freo - they can win when they shouldn't and lose when they shouldn't....damn we did....if we hadn't dipped at the wrong time v Hawthorn and Richmond we would be in the top 4 now. we haven't won any lucky games.....we are due.....in the same way that Geelong are due to have their worst game in 3 years and have it be against us for a change!

5 wins from the last 6 games will probably get us into the top 4 on 14 wins.

                              Cheer, cheer!
Christ what an optimist! My grandfather used to say 'if, if ,if! If your Aunt had balls she'd be your Uncle'. We might beat the Bullies & Freo & should account for the Lions & Demons but the Cats will be hard, very hard & I think the Hawks will be even harder. Have you seen the footy they are playing lately? They look better than when they did in '08, sharp & Hodge is the best footballer in the
afl & they have Buddy (Gods please send us Buddy), Mitchell & Rioli. They are a pretty good unit & I think they will upset the Pies applecart.
We on the other hand are rebuilding & maybe in a couple of years we will be in the big one again. GOOOOOO SWANNIESSSSSS for 2011 or 2012.
