More credit should be given to Melbourne. They were outstanding today.

They were outstanding today, but the scoreline flattered them. Had it been played on even terms I think we would've lost in a close one.

Well, it's been two years almost since I gave up on RWOL and the Swans, and after watching what the boys served up today, I feel vindicated. Without a doubt, that was the most pathetic performance I have witnesed in more than 20 years of watching (nearly) every Swans game. As for giving up on RWOL, only a %^&house performance like that could raise so much blood pressure that I had to release the tension, and as the plasma has only just come back from being repaired, it had to be a POST...

"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I'm here supporting my team. Not bad mouthing them because they came up against a red hot team who would have beaten anyone today.

Getting pissed off will get you nowhere..just like qualifying final 2005 we need to keep our heads up and move on to next week. Home game against Geelong. We're still in the 8 after round 17. Let's keep everything in perspective.

I'm sorry but Jetta did nothing today apart from run fast on two occasions. And it's not like those two bit of pace resulted in anything apart from a boundary throw.

Oops almost forgot his customary miss at goal.

There were 13 Melbourne players who were as fast as our next fastest after Jetta and that is Dan Hannaberry. Need to bring in a few fast fellas for these games against fast teams, horses for courses. Rohan, O'Dwyer, Reid, Sumner?, Heath?, Thornton? or Vespa. Got to do something against the faster sides cos the lot we played sure can't keep up. The other thing is the experienced players like Kennelly, Richards, Mattner & co panniced at the ferocity and speed of the Melb attack on the body.
Yes on Richards (though he looked OK up forward a couple of weeks ago). Bevan was one of our best, did very well down back, and over the last three weeks has quite possibly saved his career. Mattner is out of form, but in full flight is very good, so I'm undecided. Shaw was quiet but didn't stuff anything up. Moore like many had a @@@@ game, but he has generally been good. Kirk didn't do much but neither did Jones.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

No, because we're lamenting that our players, for the most part, gave up.

While Goodes, McGlynn, Jetta and Hanners busted a gut the majority of the team went into their shells after a poor start. Yes, we got blown out early and yes, the umpires didn't help. BUT that doesn't mean you don't try for the rest of the game. There were too many passengers today and the margin blew out accordingly. Conversely, while we were well beaten by Collingwood earlier this year the team kept trying and the final margin of that game reflects that (25 points with a couple of errant misses by Collingwood). In the post match and on Monday Jude and the coaching staff should be spitting chips, and if we don't come out breathing fire against Geelong the season is over.

The game descended into farce so quickly that unlike other embarrassing losses this season, I'm oddly uninfuriated ... or perhaps so stunned that it just hasn't kicked in yet. Demons played very very well. We played very very very awfully. And the umpires' pre-game decision that Melbourne would win anyway certainly didn't help. I'm quite glad I didn't get around to going down for the game to watch with a Melbourne friend ... who's a Dees supporter.

Jetta tried his guts out all day long and if he'd had any sort of support those runs might actually have come to something. He was constantly chasing and harassing Melbourne players when few others could be bothered. Things didn't come off for him today, but he did what the majority of the team didn't, and that is put in a sustained, 100% effort.

Let me say from the outset. I dont mind being beaten but that display today was wowful. Maybe the oerson they were wearing the black arm bands for was particularly close and it upset them. But. Kirk although he ahs been a wonderful player has noted that he isnt up to it anymore and should make way for others. Moore tried enough and failed too slow. Bevan a million chances. Kennelly now lost it., Jetta the oinlt thing going for him is that he is quick. The kicking is poor Jude Bolton taday I forget he was playing. and I coild keep going. I also think now that Roosey wont be there next year perhaps he should hand the reins over now today was as bad as the St Kilda game that finally got Eade. I dont believe in announcing retirement before the year is out. Let horse take over and try the younger players get some games into them Ves Rohan TDL BS Reid etc its no point limping into the finals they will make fools of themselves. I feel like repeating this to the swans website althought they would probably delete it without even looking at it. I cant go on too hard. Now we play the cats hawks etc wont win another game so over to the North beggers for a finals appearance.

Yes Melb were very good on their home dung hill, they normally are against the interstate sides. But because they were so good it just excentuated our deficiencies. Football is about winning premierships not competing & Melb showed that in a few years they could be doing just that but not us. We haven't even showed the potential this season and don't look like it for a long time unless we get some early draft picks. Look forward to a long time in the wilderness if we are constantly having to rely on Bevo & Teddy as they are 2 who are too slow & just not up to it. We need to have real depth & talent & there just ain't enough at Sydney at the moment.

Too many missed targets with kicks and handballs and then too slow to recover. Melbourne's ruthlessness on turnover ball was very impressive. McGlynn, Hanners, Goodes and White did well. The rest should be embarassed.

Umpiring decisions do tend to go your way when you're on a roll but Jamar seemed a protected species today.
