That is astounding their are no changes....how can a team who got absolutely smashed by a bottom to mid range team at best be then expected to beat geelong with the very same team?! Unbelievable, a 6 goal loss at best.

Oh well following the Carlton game we all thought they were pretty darn good.....Comment

Would have loved to have seen another forward included, not sure who or who to cut, but I'm afraid of Scarlett playing loose in their backline and cutting out any ball to Jesse White with ease.Comment

Despite being named in the emergencies for the last couple of games, I doubt Reid is physically ready, especially against Geelong.
Vez and Johnston's most recent games were in a loss probably as bad as the one the seniors suffered last week and neither had a good game that week.
Rohan, Heath and MOD haven't played at all for the last few weeks and are still listed as "test".
Thornton is injured. Currie was nursed through his last reserves game, after missing a couple through injury.
That pretty much just leaves Cheese or Gordon. We know the reaction when Cheese last played against Geelong, and I doubt Gordon is really ready for the baptism of fire that joining the "debut against Geelong" club would entail.
A case could be made for Vez and/or Johnston, particularly to replace anyone carrying an injury they should be resting, but neither has very recent compelling reserves form to support their case for inclusion.Last edited by liz; 29 July 2010, 05:39 PM.Comment

Maybe the team "as is" just needed another week together to gel?
The team last week wasn't much different from the team that played well against the Blues (except for an injury or two). Does anyone seriously see any fit Swans players that could be brought in who would make a difference?
Maybe this is redemption time? The team embarrassed themselves and now they face the biggest test in footy. Roos says that players who have stopped playing for him might look to the coaches box where their new coach is watching them. So why let any off the hook - they can go out and show they can do better, if they can.
It will be a fascinating game to watch on Saturday night. Can the Swans bounce back? Will they do it just enough for another bloody "honourable loss" or will they get across the line? Will they get absolutely hammered again - and where will that leave them for the rest of the season? Will the "good' players from last week continue their form? Will the older players have to lift again or will the lift come from the middle tier - or the kids? How will Mummy go against the old team? Can Jack quell Yablett? Will we still bleed goals without Nic? At some stage the Cats will come hard - how will the Swans respond (ie will they roll over and play dead like last week)? Will Myke be shattered by last week or will he play as he did in weeks earlier, or better? Where does Shaw play? Goodes?
I don't even have a clue what our forward line and back line will look like. Does anyone?Last edited by Go Swannies; 29 July 2010, 05:40 PM.Comment

I'm afraid I've got no positive take on this one.
I hope there's a cat or 2 with severe leg injuries, so the likes of Moore and Kirk (to name the 2 obvious snails) can keep up.
The speed the game is played at these days, particually by Geelong, will find our slow guys doing a lot of forlorn chasing. I fear this game will play out as predictably as the swans defensive game plan.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

(W/L Records since 2005 Round 1)
Field Umpires:
2. Michael VOZZO (11W 12L 47.8%)
7. Hayden KENNEDY (9W 6L 60.0%)
23. Robert FINDLAY (1W 4L 20.0%)
We had Findlay last week, and I thought he was the worse of the lot.Comment
