Maybe he is not as good as we and he thinks he is, looks like he is not interested a lot of the time during a game.
Having Bradshaw in the tem should of made it easier for him, remember late last year Mickey was still the main focus for the opposition, getting the best defenders so nothing would have change there. He just isn't working hard enough.
For a guy that is as big as he is, he is very soft, easily knock off the ball, out marked and doesn't split packs.
He should be intimidating but he looks as if he is intimidated.
I hope it is just a confidence thing and not just a player that flukes 3 or 4 good games and then just drifts of the scene.

It's hardly like I'm jumping down other posters' throats and arguing them point by point on every single little disagreement and trying to drag the thread through the mud. You certainly aren't offending me, I'm a big fan of White as a long term key forward option but I'm pretty sure that I've started a thread at some point about him spending some time in the baclkine. His potential as a full time back is an intriguing thing to ponder.

I cant find it Stella but I remember he said similar things last time Jesse was dropped earlier this season.
I'm kinda hoping Horse will be a little more demanding of Jesse than Roosy. He might respond better to someone not quite so nice.

The comparisons to Leo Barry and Grundy are fallacious. Both were great marks .Grundy's hands were good and if they had enforced the chopping the arms rule he might have stayed up forward. Both were agile and who can forget the zig zag of Barry out of the fullback position. In the dying seconds of the 05 GF Leo showed us why you need a defender who can mark. Having a one dimensional spoiler is a backwards step reminiscent of the 70's Hawthorn sides. All good modern sides attack from the full back position. White is a big unit who I believe would make us supporters nervous wrecks if he played in the backlines.He is too straight line,not flexible or agile enough and the one dimensional spoiling back man was obsolete years ago.He is too loose below the knees and not savy enough to body out a clever forward. What would either Riewoldt do to him is horrific to ponder! Sorry Forward or nothing!

The comparisons to Leo and Grundy are fallacious, but that doesn't undermine the point. We have defenders who can mark. Both Grundy and LRT fit into that category. Now, whether White is suited to the backline is another issue, but not all key defenders need to mark. For every Lake, Fletcher, Leo, there's a Prestigiacomo, Merrett, Glass. Spoil merchants. A well balanced backline is one that encompasses all these types.

As for White, he is not at all straight line, he is one of the most flexible, agile men of his size in the competition. It is arguably his main strength. He's also very good below the knees, and while I would never call him savvy, he would be a lot stronger than your typical defender.

With regards to the Riewoldt point, he just so happened to spend about 10 minutes on Jack Riewoldt in the first Richmond game this year, and I believe killed a couple of contests. Jack didn't win any. While it was only a tiny amount of time, White certainly won those 10 minutes.

White just needs more time to develop, which is why he needs to remain in the seniors and not be dropped, as happened earlier in the season, we have no one else at the moment up forward....maybe he had a bit too much expectations on him for this year after how last year finished? Maybe also Bradshaw being unavailable has hindered his development? He is definately a forward or ruck though, way too big to be playing full back as has been suggested!

I didn't say that you were doing any of the above - if you read my original post carefully, I did not once suggest you dragged the thread through the mud, nor did I imply that you were aggressive in any way to anyone. I just got bored of reading the same thing over and over in your replies. I doubt I need to "chill" or am likely to have an aneurism when I keep slipping into a coma from hearing the same points raised time after time.

With Mumford, Seaby, White & Pyke it seems we're in rucking Heaven, White or Pyke or both will have to be up forward if all are fit next season poor Currie needs to find a new calling

Jesse needs to slow up on the lead. If you have noticed he goes hell for leather & by the time he approaches the ball he's moving at light speed. He needs to back back into the defender just before the impact zone (10 meters from expected ball impact). Listen to Leigh Matthews on the subject the first time he saw Jesse "He leads too fast to the ball , then doesn't compensate by using that big frame to block his man, therefore giving him a free comfortable run at the ball". This is something learned from a Tony Locket or Jason Dunstall or maybe even a Daniel Bradshaw? Time will see him a very good forward but maybe not a Full Forward, Centre Half perhaps? Need to play more at ANZ if that were to happen.

Alright, I'll bite. I didn't actually suggest you said any of that. However, those were the only possible reasons I could think for you having a problem with my posting. My contribution to the thread had been quite a standard set of responses to people discussing my reasoning. If you saw nothing but empty repetition, then that is bewildering, as while each post expressed ultimately the same point, they were each addressed with different counter-points in mind. If that is enough to rile you up, then I really don't understand how you can post on any forum at all, or even engage in any sort of debate, without breaking into tears, as repetition of this nature is an unfortunate requisite. Perhaps you wouldn't have had this problem if you'd bothered to read the arguments behind the posts, rather than just the final point.

Comparisons to Grundy are pointless, Grundy is a very natural footballer, White is a basketballer turned footballer.

I've got no doubt he'll make the grade, some of the stuff he does is great, he just needs to do it for longer than just the cameos each game.

Bradshaw if he can get himself right will be our FF for two years max I'd suggest. He will be able to assist White when they are playing together and will also drag the best defender meaning White will have the 2nd or 3rd defender.

It is possible in 2012/13+ that we have White, Reid and Johnston as our key forwards. Now that COULD be exciting.
