    They're bringing GWS in already?

So how many games and how many byes? I'd hate to get the bye in round 1 or the last round

The show gets repeated at 8:30pm so I will watch and record.

They seem to be playong 6 groups made up of 3 teams. Eaxh game is 50 minutes long with a 15 minute break between games. So it is really different.

GWS is in. Must be 24 rounds. They showed a graph of games so I'll freeze that and go through it.

I'm guessing each team will get 2 byes per season.

Ah sorry you are saying gws in for the nab cup

I believe that shortened format was used at the recently completed Australian country football championships. Each side played three games in one day

Yes GWS in NAB only. That format sounds right.

Bye in first and last round would be great, Atleast you start and finish with 4 points.

I have updated my original post. All dates have been locked in and accurate.

For detail look at Season 2011:

            Rd 1 to 3 - 8 games
            Rd 4 to 6 - 7 games
            Rd 7 to 13 - 8 games
            Rd 14 and 15 - 7 games
            Rd 16 to 24 - 8 games

So 19 Rounds of 8 matches, 5 Rounds of 7 matches

All teams will get 2 byes each year. There will be 1 bye in every round and 2 byes in a round for the weeks indicating 7 games.

            NAB Cup Triangular Series

There will be six groups of 3 teams, which will play across 2 weekends, including GC and GWS.

Held at a single venue, there will be 2 halves in a game and the day will go like this:

            15 mins prematch

            Team A plays Team B in Game 1, 45 to 50 mins

            15 Mins break

            Team B plays Team C in Game 2, 45 to 50 mins

            15 Mins Break

            Team A plays Team C in Game 3, 45 to 50 mins

                I think you mean 3 byes. 1 x 19 + 3 x 5 = 34 = 2 byes per team (17 teams).

When it was announced back in June the plan was for the winner of the first game to have the break, as a reward. I don't know if they have written it up now to be neat or if the networks have pushed them into a fixed structure.

Roll up, roll up; win a Cupi Doll. Sounds like a circus atmosphere coming up for the bank cup.

When the format was first floated, Brad Scott was of the opinion that Team A would be at a disadvantage because of the cooldown factor.

Given that I'd imagine there will still be a ridiculous number of players allowed on the bench, 2 x 50 minute games back to back shouldn't be a stretch.

I think he makes a good point.

                      .
As best as I understand and what the commentators said. In the weeks that there are 8 games played - 1 team has a bye. In the weeks that there are 7 games played then 3 teams don't play.

So each team has 2 byes per season. So the Swans are guaranteed 8 points next year at least. On the graph they put up, they had numbers in the byes column but the commentators made no reference to it and I couldn't work it out as it went up to numbers in the 30's.

Which is why I'm really excited about it, to be honest. It's all but given that GWS and Sydney will be in the same group and they'll play at Blacktown, just a question of who the third team is. So you've got Izzy's first game of Aussie Rules, Horse's new team (and hopefully game plan ) and some good late summer weather.

Should be a cracker of a day

                          I agree.

It will be interesting to see who the Swans fans cheer for in the 'other' game.

I am on record as saying I will be following GWS and hope they do well except when playing the Swans, but it will be interesting to see what those who are in the 'Stuff GWS, I hope they die!!' camp will do if it's GWS v Collingwood ...lol

On League teams, they said that GWS and GC17 will play in the same group. So that would be good for the Swans if they are the 3rd team.

I hope GWS playing in the NAB cup next year doesn't actually take away from their eventual launch.

I want GWS to go well ONLY because I would love with the Perth and Adelaide teams have in terms of rivalry, but wont be supporting them in any fashion.
