Let's just accept that some of us like playing at ANZ stadium and some of us hate it. Most of us won't change our minds so why bother arguing about it any more?

No mate, it's not that simple. We've played some fantastic games at Homebush over the years and the atmosphere has been wonderful. Even at the poorly-attended final against North a couple of years ago, the atmosphere was great.
I've often thought about this too. What I can estimate is that while I was sitting on the wing above the bench (best seats available when I bought) there were others who were price-restricted. Aisles 127-130 were jumping, we were packed in pretty tight and the noise was good. Having said that, there are something like 150 aisles on Level 1, and anyone not sitting in that area would have thought the atmosphere terrible. That's my theory. Far from the truth?

      Sure is.

Half the seats don't even face the middle!
Saying that half the seats don't even face the middle is just plain absurd. Which seats? I've watched numerous events from all over the venue and they ALL face the middle.
The pockets. The seating plan is designed for rectangular events or similar - Rugby, Athletics, etc. Ergo the wing and pocket seats are parallel to the rectangular side-line. When the wings are pushed out for oval events - cricket and aussie rules - these seats are all still facing directly forward (90? from seats diectly behind the goal). For those sitting in the middle of the wing this isn't a problem, and for those sitting directly on the side-fence in the pocket can see over the wing, but the people sitting next to those on the side-fence in the pocket can't see the entire near wing. The constant need to shuffle around and crane forward is ridiculous for a "State-of-the-Art" stadium. Similar effects are found sitting in the wing aisles immediately adjacent to the pockets, whereby the wing and/or the goal mouth is obscured by seats.

I would not say this is "half the seats in the ground", but having sat in all the above-mentioned places I can assure any doubters that the vista is woeful in these areas. We now sit behind the goals at the Northern End where, for reasons that escape me, patrons aren't allowed to sit in the first row!

Maybe your head is on an angle too and that counter balances it?

If not, sit in the pockets and you shall see.

I was also thinking; If we've had 'tens of thousands' of people come to watch us at ANZ and been exposed to the Swans that way is does appear that watching football at ANZ is putting them off.

Crowds are decreasing at ANZ and overall member is not increasing. Therefore all these people who turn up for the first time, don't care for it and don't come back.

If you are as your name suggests, in the cheer squad, wouldn't you therefore always sit in the same spot?
Next time we play there, be it this year or next, get there early and go for a walk around the aisles and sample different seats. You will discover that what Laughingnome and Captain have posted is spot on. Certainly not half the seats, but I'd guess 20% of them.

The first sentence is a ripping idea. The post falls away dramatically after that.

Considering the home final is designed to give the higher placed team the advantage, surely in a situation like ours, where we have two suitable venues, both of which are used during the H&A season, we should be able to nominate which ground we play at.

That would be logical wouldn't it, but logic is something the AFL lack in spades.

Using the AFL predictor thingo, unless we beat the Doggies this week it seems likely that our home final chances come down to the Freo-Carlton game in rd 22. Freo wins and we make it - Carlton win and it comes down to % between Freo and us. Bit sad that two teams that we've beaten will determine our destiny like that but heck even making the finals is a nice surprise.
