You've hit the nail on the head Chook, that's EXACTLY what she does.

My foe in the gender wars do make up over 40 per cent of footy fans (according to the AFL), so I wouldn't dismiss their right to contribute from behind a microphone. It will take us some time to get used to the genetic difference in vocal chords but hey, we did let them vote and it has all been a can of worms since then.
I watched the game again last night and I thought she did the best call as she could. No problems there. At the moment, there isn't another female caller to compare her to. So there is the problem. I agree about the voting.........bad mistake.

I don't have a great problem with her. Her voice is a bit flat, but she manages to construct coherent sentences which puts her ahead of most of the others in the box.

Personally I find her enthusiasm and near-reverence for the game a refreshing change from the jaded ex-players and rusted-on commentators. She sounds more like one of us - a keen fan - than an expert.

I read BT (admittedly not an unbiaised observer) saying she probably should have spent more time doing less high-profile radio and other work before being drafted to the big league. So she lacks of confidence, hence tries a bit hard.

Got no problem with Underwood and agree with the sentiment that it's the Fox Sports idiots who are the worst out there.

Is her voice any worse than Tony Shaw's or Alistair Lynch's? Or for that matter our prime minister's?

Not the worst going around and happy to see the gender gap addressed.

On the same point, hopefully we'll see some of these charismatic media-friendly young indigenous kids get their chance in the media soon.

IMO a resounding yes. Get rid of her.

                This.

Least she doesn't bring her team bias to the table like other commentators as well. Think she'll improve the more calls she makes.

I have said elsewhere that it is really good that 10 is allowing the PM to call the football. Can't stand listening to either of them, nothing to do with them being women, I am quite partial to women (well, my wife anyway) it's the nasal twang that I find very hard to listen to.

The best call of the game is Luffy and Bradley on MMM.

They're not overly biased and they call the best game.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Did anyone catch the different calls of the dying seconds of the Eagles-Lions game on AFL Insider last night? Hysterical! Home town bias is alive and well whatever radio station you listen to.
