Premature Celebration for Our New Rising Star (Hanners re-signs for 3 years)

Congratulations to Dan Hannebery for another stunning display for such a young footballer! I believe that performance at Subiaco confirmed the Rising Star Award for young Dan. 38 disposals, 10 in the last quarter. Gun in the making. Goodes won the Rising star and then 2 Brownlows........im just saying.

Looking a very firm favourite now I'd suggest.

Agree he looks a gun in the making and with Kieran Jack also showing real class recently we look to have the makings of a decent long term midfield when you add in other youngsters in Rohan, Jetta and Kennedy with McGlynn still relatively youthful. Hopefully we can land Tom Mitchell next year and fingers crossed for a couple of the others currently on the list to rise to the necessary level.

This lot of course will be fed and assisted by Mummy :-)

+ Goodes to play on until he's 40.

I get a little jittery when i think about the potential of Hannebery. He could be a James Hird. He could be the first swan to reach 400 games. He could be better than Goodes. Since when have we had a midfielder get 35+ possies?

Since last year, when certainly ROK and I think also McVeigh racked up numbers like that.

He'll still need to deal with a tag, because at the rate he is going, he will attract one pretty soon, particularly if he wins the Rising Star.

He has passed every test thus far, nothing to suggest he won't pass that one, but it's still a consideration.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

Do we know the story of who spotted him from our recruitment team as they deserve a big fat bonus? I have a vague memory of reading somewhere roos had tracked him since age 14 but not sure if this is right. Whoever it was, a free date with Wardy is your reward ...

Is there a nasal spray for premature celebration?

A little known scout named P.Roos. He was watching his nephew (I think) at some U14s game and Hanners caught his eye.

Probably, although it's not confirmed, and he may have signed a 3 year contract to begin with (Rohan did). But there has been no indication he wants to leave, and every indication he'll stay.

From memory ROK and racked up the same numbers, in the same (possibly consecutive) games, in the high 30's last year.

What indication has there been he'll stay? I haven't seen or heard anything mentioned or implied by anyone not directly affiliated with either RWO or BigFooty...

The kiddo is having a lot of fun at present, at the club and with his housemates. Bright eyed and bushy tailed, clear thinking, straight talking and with a very strong work ethic. There is nothing fluffy about Hanners. He'll stay.

If he's genuine in the article on the Swans website this morning, he will be staying. He already sounds like a senior player in the way he praises his teammates and critiques himself. He is the real deal.
