Roos is saying that he now has to plan for finals and that's why he may hold Braddy back. I wonder if ROK was one of the others he was referring to as playing injured and may be rested? I would have thought getting a game into Braddy and LRT would have been a good move so maybe the Lions (especially Braddy against his old team as a warm up). Bird? I would have thought we'd want to come into finals with some form - and play hard now for a home final. But this really is a case where we'll have to presume the coaches and trainers know what they're doing (because we certainly don't).Comment

It Doesn't matter now, he hasn't played in that long he's not going to be the Bradshaw that was kicking bags of six earlier in the year. He'll take a few games to hit his traps and we probably wont have enough games left to allow for this. We should forget about Braddy for this year. What is important is finding someone with some height and a clean pair of hands to play up forward, as our forward structure is letting us down massively at the moment ( statistically we should have smashed Freo, in reality we couldn't convert forward 50 entries into scores) . Wether that person comes from the ressies or within the team is another question. Grundy would be fantastic for this, but he's far too important down back to move up forward. Teddy is not the answer, and i think he's playing reasonble footy down back at the moment. We don't we to move Teddy around and play him back out of form as it might take him ten weeks to find it again. Lewis Johnston comes to mind, and Sam Reid, but i think it highly unlikely either of these two will get a gig this year, as much as i would like to see it. Rooster Rohan has clean hands, is super quick and has a nice leap, and could be a useful lead up foil for the crash packing White. At the very least he would provide forward pressure which we're going to miss sorely with McGlynn out.
Am i alone in thinking we shouldn't be hoping for Braddy to come back and be the saviour and kick a 65 metre torp among a bag of six and get us through to a semi final after missing the past 8, 9 ?? however many games. I think we should be looking at a more realistic option to kick goals and/ or improve our forward structure and efficiency.Comment

I would bring him back for the Grand Final. We lack natural instinctive forwards. Hence I have supported the inclusion of TDL for this very reason. Bradshaw is a natural forward.Give him the ball 5-6 times a game and you have 3-5 goals. Anchor him in the goal square, let TDL chase his man. He is definately in our best 22.Comment

His form was average before getting injured and now needs to focus on 2011.Comment

Somewhat agree on Bird. Certainly, he should come back through the ressies. If he's tearing it up then there's no reason he can't come back in, as he is a best 22 player when firing, but it isn't a priority to get him into the side.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Roos said a few weeks ago that Bird was in the best 22 so would come in when fit, as would LRT and Braddy.Comment

This is one of those "damned if you do" situations.
If Bradshaw doesn't play in the finals and we lose one by 3-4 goals, it will be "Bradshaw would have been the difference"
If he does play and we lose by 3 or 4 and he kicks 2: "His lack of fitness was a liability" etc....I wish my weed was EMO so it would cut itselfComment

Out of interest, which player would you be dropping for Bird?Comment

Do we really need Bradshaw anyway? The team has developed quite well in his absence, even if a bit haphazardly.
It's hard to imagine that Bradshaw would have made much difference to some of our really bad losses. I think we're missing Seaby more than Bradshaw.Comment

I wouldn't reckon there's any way Bird will be back in the seniors this year. Hell, he's not even back in the 2's yet and we're 2 games out from finals.
No chance of being fit enough. He is a bit on the tubby side at the best of times, 3 parts of the season out with a foot injury....no chance.Last edited by Triple B; 17 August 2010, 04:44 PM.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
