Ainslie
Look out for:
- 5. Ben Hughes - Took 3 weeks to get going after a long layoff with an injury but in his last 4 games has kicked 15 goals including a bag of 7 against Eastlake. Sam Reid has been playing at CHF in the last few games but with Campbell Heath missing, surely Reid has to go head back to defence to nullify Hughes. Otherwise they'll be throwing the likes of McKaigue and Gilchrist in against much bigger players, or topup Emery as a last resort.
- 12. Rob Shirley - The best known of the smattering of ex-AFL players playing in this league. Sumner did say he tagged Shirley the last time they played so it will be interesting to see if Byron reprises this role.
- 24. Rowan Andrews - The other ex-Crow in their lineup. Impressive ruckman who has been consistently good throughout the season and is a chance to claim the Mulrooney Medal.
- 26. Eric Stone - Had 4 goals last week.
And the rest:
- 1. Daniel McFarlane
- 3. Nicholas Paine
- 4. Marcus Crook
- 7. Michael Lawless
- 10. Jesse Griffin
- 14. Michael Ghobrial
- 15. Robert Tuohey
- 17. Dale Argall
- 19. Marc Ablett
- 20. Ryan Tutt
- 23. David Love
- 31. Shaun Campbell
- 36. Matthew Hearn
- 37. Tim Inkster
- 39. Corey Baxter
- 48. David Tow
- 53. Clint Mathis
- Tyson Carracher - Collingwood NSW Scholarship recipient. Looks like his first grade debut.
- Patrick Orchard
- Ben Perry
Talking points
- How will the team hold up against top quality opposition, especially with a depleted lineup? The onus will be on the Swans to defend well, an area of their game that has come under criticism from coach McPherson
- Lewis Johnston - According to the Swans website, has been bothered by a hip complaint, forcing him to miss one game and finishing with a duck's egg in the other from the past 2 weeks. The Swans will be heavily reliant on his goalkicking prowess to get over the line this week.
- Daniel Currie - He has had to shoulder the bulk of the ruckwork in recent games, although the presence of topup Donovan could alleviate his workload.
- Matthew O'Dwyer - Is he playing for his future at the club? Will most likely be called upon to help out the defenders down back and provide run and carry in rebound.
Why the Swans can win
- Playing at home.
- I've been praying for a miracle.
Why Ainslie can win
- Best performing side in AFL Canberra this year.
- Depleted Swans lineup.
