Well, as far as finals are concerned, it's not at the SCG.

Here's our finals record at both venues for comparison:

    SCG
1996 - Qualifying Final vs Hawthorn - won by 6 points
1996 - Preliminary Final vs Essendon - won by 1 point
1998 - Qualifying Final vs St. Kilda - won by 2 points
    1998 - Semi-Final vs Adelaide - lost by 27 points
    2005 - Semi-Final vs Geelong - won by 3 points

    Homebush
2003 - Preliminary Final vs Brisbane - lost by 44
2004 - Elimination Final vs West Coast - won by 41
2006 - Preliminary Final vs Fremantle - won by 35
2008 - Elimination Final vs North Melbourne - won by 35
    2010 - Elimination Final vs Carlton - ?

The finals we lost at the SCG and Homebush were to the eventual premiers that year.

Otherwise, we've just managed to scrape across the line in every final at the SCG, including 2005, which was almost a disaster. On the other hand, our wins at Homebush have been convincing.

The evidence suggests you're overstating our supposed home ground advantage at the SCG come finals time.

Would have thought current form not history would be more relevant. I think this current side plays their best footy at the SCG so we are at a disadvantage by not playing there.

Are you saying that this side can play Homebush as well as the SCG?

I agree the key thing is that we're in great form at the moment! That's what matters, not the ground.

We've just knocked off Freo in Perth for the first time in 12 years, and Brisbane at the Gabba, so I doubt we'll have too much trouble with Carlton at Homebush.

However, what's not going to help the team is the ongoing, mentally self-defeating campaign being played out here, and in various media outlets, against Homebush.

All efforts must now focus on getting as many people as possible to show up on Sunday to cheer the team on to victory.

We also can't bury our heads in the sand either on a situation that a lot of people find unacceptable. Also I hope the team is professional enough to 1. not read the crap on here and 2. not let the media affect their preparation.

On this we are in total agreement. After this morning I am more fired up than usual so I will be doing my bit.

Rain is no deterrant for me. Especially finals rain. Finals rain is different rain. Ha! I love seeing the bottom rows empty except for a nutcase supporter leaning over the fence urging their players on while everyones out on their feets in the last quarter. That will be me if the rain starts coming down hard.

But, really, I would love a perfectly sunny afternoon! Either way I'll be going ballistic for the Bloods.
