Only 3 spots left for him to fill as an uncontracted player if he goes...

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

He had to wait till seasons end and maybe the Geelong B & F ?
Hard to turn up with your mates if you have told them you are packed and ready to go......
Hope he has a sunsmart hatLast edited by 31 hard at it; 20 September 2010, 04:46 PM.Comment

Suns will get stronger year after year as their young Draft picks develop. I'd reckon that Suns have a better chance of winning a flag, say in the next six years, than the Cats. Suns in the ascendant, Cats now in the descendant.Run2Live,Live2RunComment

I have no idea what G. Ablett will do - and I wouldn't be surprised either way.
For some reason I had the feeling tonight that if Ablett won the Brownlow he would tell everyone that he was going to stay. But he didn't win, and everyone thinks that he will go to the Suns, so he probably will. It was interesting to hear Eade talking about Harbrow leaving and that he knew he was going in April (nothing official, but heard it from friends at the Suns). The only issue with Ablett would be whether he had/has made his own mind up.Comment

he's a natural SOG ... Sun of Goldcoast!
done it all down there, once he and his missus get a sniff of winter in QLD compared with Geelong + the captaincy + the challenge + the $$$$ ... it's a no brainer. I think having won them 2 flags, even the Geelong diehards would forgive him going ... don't forget they were pretty quick to drop his old man when he was out of favour ... loyalty is a wonderful notion, often wasted in professional sport.Comment

Looks like its unanimous that everyone thinks Gary Ablett is the first captain of the Suns of the Gold Coast sky then.
I was 100% one of you, but reading today that he has played 192 matches for Geelong just inserts a little sliver of doubt in my mind.
Becoming a 200-gamer for one club would have to be something that would come into his consideration when making a decision.
Gold Coast still the favourites as I see it, but wouldn't be surprised to see him stay with this being his chief reason behind staying on the peninsula."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

If Campbell Brown was going to stay a Hawk I am sure it would have been announced ages ago to stop all the speculation."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

Geelong are imploding at the moment, Ablett has gone, Thompson very very likely to leave, Milburn and Rooke have been asked to leave/retire, Blake and someone else who's name escapes me are asking to be traded, my god how the mighty have fallen.
Without meaning to look like I'm sticking the knife in, I must say I'm really looking forward to the annual drive down the highway next year, only this time I hopefully get to have the scarf waving out the back window all the way back home to Melbourne after the game has finished on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon and the 'Bloods' are victorious.Comment
