Gaz gone!!!!!.... bit of an anti climax really.... what are the media and footy shows going to talk about now? They managed to turn the whole controversy into a big dollar industry. Sam Newman got another Lambo and face peel out of the whole thing and Billy Brownless got some doughnuts with sprinkles. The media may actually start writing stories on the swans out of desperation. Maybe they could beef up a few controversial signings to get through next year.

Any truth in the rumour that both Nick and Jack Reiwoldt are going to GWS after being seen playing Pac-Man with Kevin Sheedy in a Rooty Hill milk bar?
    I'm stupid, I'm ugly, I'm dumb, I smell.... Did I mention that I'm stupid?

The trend seems to for GC to announce the player's signing after their old team's season has finished. It happened with Harbrow and now with Ablett (although a little delayed). With 6 uncontracted players signed and Clayton stating that he wanted about 8, it appears as if the final 2 will come from the grand finallists. Armitage from StK has already been heavily rumoured and most of the rumoured players have eventuated. Cloke from Collingwood seems to be the other guess, but I'm not so sure about that one.

In any case, it looks like no Swans will be going north as an uncontracted player

Someone told me a couple of months back that Gazza's bird's best friend had told him that he'd already signed but was looking at a way to get out. Take it or leave it but I get the feeling this decision was made a fair time back.

Better still, we wont be scheduled to play at Antarctic Park in 2011. Surely we're due to miss playing a game down there next season.

You forgot to mention that Frank Costa has resigned also ... and that is resigned, as in left ...

Well, if we're in with a real chance of winning, I'd just love to go down there next year and watch us do it.

                $2M a year for 5 years.
                Wow.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Gotta think of the future. I hope he doesn't, but if he does his acl or some horriffic injury next year he's got the money to live off. Financial security beats club loyalty.

He would have received financial security at Geelong. What he has gotten from GC Suns is F.U. money - maybe that beats club loyalty.

NO NO!!!!, I want to go there, win, and drive home happy. I've never experienced it. I know we've won there before, but I was never in attendance, so I need to have this happen so I can mark it off the bucket list.

I believe the conversation wenty a little like this:
KS "Come to the dumb side Nick, come and fulfill your destiny"
NR "NO-I cannot betray the others"
KS "Nick I am your father"
                          NR "NO"

I thought about this a lot in the past 24 hours, and this is such a rare event (in terms of money), I doubt anyone would have turned it down. Potential to earn 10 million dollars over 5 years.

No one in the history of Australian Domestic sport has been offered that sort of money before, it may happen again next year with GWS, but it's really a once in a lifetime opportunity. Plus he isn't leaving for a hated rival club or leaving the club in an awful state (which could be argued for Judd's move or even Barrassi's move to Carlton from Melbourne in the 60's)

Its an opportunity to be the captain of a brand spanking new club, the money - hell why wouldnt you take it as I said previously, those jobs dont present themselves often. If anyone could get bums on seats up there its Gaz - good on him - he's young and he's doing whats best for him. I dont know why all the hoo har.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

                                Gary's Explaination

I'm very close to my brother; he's like my best mate.
When I was at Geelong, we used to hang out every day and I've found it really hard being separated. We're both excited about the possibility of being at the same football club again.
Sounds like Nathan was a good lure.

Also interesting how he talks about his father's shadow at Geelong.
