My interpretation of your interpretation and my interpretation of Meg's interpretation are the same (and the same as my own interpretation of the rules).

Yes, re-reading your post I see we are saying the same thing. The ball didn't brush the post after all!

No, once nominated, we are committed to putting him on our senior list unless another club lodges a bid that we choose not to match.

I think the confusion lies in the club nomination leading into the Academy bidding day versus the player nomination for the national draft.

Using this year's Swans Academy eligible players as a hypothetical example. There are eight. Let's say the Swans nominate Heeney and Davis before the Academy Bidding Day of 6 October. Then the Swans must take these players, using picks of a value according to whether another club bids for the players.

The other six players would nominate for the draft where any club could use any pick to take them. However any of the six who are not picked by any club in either the National or Pre-Season drafts could then be pre-listed by the Swans as a rookie before the Rookie Draft.

Liz, Ludwig, have I got that right?

              That's how I understand it.

The dual nomination process is a way to give other clubs a heads up on who the Swans might be considering nominating so there are no smokey surprises come the actual nomination day. Mind you, to be eligible to be nominated, a player must have played in the U18 championships so it would be difficult to see how any player could be a complete smokey.

No need for a video review this time.

I noticed Jackson Kelly, Paul Kellys son, turns 18 in December. Has anyone seen him play? Is he a chance to get drafted?

I beg to differ and I don't mean the ball crossing the line.

Yep saw him play, he is skinny and not a mature body yet. Got 9 disposals was very willing and tended to do something with the pill when in hand. Still too immature to draft body wise but will improve next year I suggest. We should keep an eye on his progress.

I think the tongue-in-cheek perv would like to see many replays of the attractive goal umpire in action!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Thanks Wolfie. He might be a chance for a rookie spot maybe? I seem to remember his old man was fairly scrawny early on too.

Mills and Heeney both impressed again in the 2's on the weekend...I bet it isn't coincidence that the coaching staff won't mention them among the best players or talk about them in the NEAFL wrap...clever!

                              Mills: 15 kicks, 11 handballs, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 7 i-50's, 2 r-50's

                              Heeney: 14 kicks, 11 handballs, 4 marks, 7 tackles, 3 i-50's, 5 r-50's.

I think they should tell Heeney to dye his hair dark brown as well. He's far too visible both on the field and on the replays.
