We're looking at the nOughties, not the nAughties!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

It's funny, but I look at the incident in a completely different light. I thought that it was one of the worst victory speeches of all time (let alone the noughties). No humility whatsoever, completely self-indulgent, childish and full of venom. I thought the whole Port team were like that in 2004 (Tredrea stands out). Obviously they had a big chip on their shoulders, but in my mind they would have been better served by showing better sportsmanship.

I remember thinking that Roos did such a wonderful job in not stooping to a similar level when the Swans won in 2005.

call me cynical (and I hope that I'm wrong) but were all of the "memories" from Channel 10 only coverages? having said that I was thrilled to see Leo & Nick in the top 5 (and thankfully they were on Channel 10) and Jason McCartney - but the other two were a bit odd - what about the Brisbane Lions 3peat? thought that would have rated mention or weren't network 10 part of the AFL the coverege merry go round then?.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Meh. I think Luke Ablett's toe-poke to Ben Cousins in the goal square in the 05 GF was way more memorable than that! Probably makes the list a little Swans-heavy tho.

The nick davis moment would have even been more memorable if they had played the 3aw coverage over the top. Just the sound of shawy I think it was going NO NO NO brings a smile to my face.

The Jason McCartney 'memory' was a Channel 9 broadcast. But, yes, the others were all from Channel 10. Having said that though Channel 10 had the exclusive rights to broadcast the GF from 2002 - 2006 and then rotated with Channel 7 from 2007 onwards (with 10 getting 2007 & 2009). So if most of the highlights were to come from GF's (which they seem to have been) it would be more likely be from 10 than anyone else in the last decade.

The McCartney one was definitely channel 9 - you could hear Eddie during the video montage. I'm sure the Lions made the top 10 that Channel 10 has been spruiking for the last month, but only 5 made it on the night. Riewoldt's mark at the SCG in 2004 was another moment, as was Hird v West Coast the week after he ragged on Umpire McLaren.

It was Jolly that let him get it.

Only because Cox pushed him in the back.

Amazing to think I was present for the first three of those. That 2005 finals series was truly remarkable. And the McCarthy night was pretty special too (tho I was there with a Tigers supporter who wasn't quote so captivated).
