Lewis Jetta to run in the GF Sprint!
Maybe Goddard will get it this time like he should have the first time around...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

The efforts of the players were a complete waste because they will have to come back next week and start all over again. In one weeks time when a premier has been decided, this drawn GF is going to mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. The only Grand Final's which mean something are the Grand Final's where a premier is decided.Comment

Yeah but in terms of deciding who the premier is, it's about as useful as an ash tray on a motor bike.

This was one Grand Final where the efforts of all 44 players meant something to their team's quest for a premiership. If any single one of those players had put in a lesser performance it is likely that their team would have lost the premiership. Nothing was wasted - all their efforts were used to secure their place in a premiership match - and it is highly doubtful that the magnificence of that drawn match will be forgotten any time soon. People will be talking about it for years!Comment

Put it in perspective.
If a Swans player had kicked a point in the closing seconds of the 2006 Grand Final would you have said "well, that was a waste of an afternoon"?Comment

I'm not saying the game wasn't entertaining. I'm saying that once the ball is bounced this Saturday, last Saturday and everything that happened means nothing.
It's like Nick Maxwell said. You had 44 players go out there and go to war with eachother. The reason they went to war is so they could get a result for their side.
It's all good and well to have seen a game that will get replayed at 3am before the next few GF's, but the purpose of the 44 players and 100,000 spectators being at the MCG was to see a result and the purpose wasn't fulfilled.Comment

What a farcical comment. The efforts of a player on any losing side could be dismissed just as easily because it didn't result in a win and they come back next week. If you reckon the efforts of Hayes and Goddard were irrelevant as a footy fan you may as well never watch another match. They were both mighty, and I loved watching them. They were what footy is all about - an absolute refusal to lay down and sheer determination that carried their teammates along for the ride. Lenny's game reminded me of Brett Kirk's game in the 2006 Grand Final - still one of the finest individual efforts I've ever seen on a footy field. Was that "irrelevant" because it didn't produce a win?My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

When the ball is bounced this Saturday, what does last Saturday actually mean in the grand scheme of things? Sweet @@@@ all.
The only thing farcical here is that we have to go through everything again. And the AFL knows it's farcical. That's why they have said there will be extra time if it's a draw this week, which is what should of happened last week.Comment
