I reckon Jude has always been a pretty decent shot at goal. It's just that we most remember the first half of the 2006 grand final.
Bevo, oh Bevo, where art thou oh Bevo?

Jude has the uncanny knack of getting the silly goals. If we were able to get a dvd of all his unexpecteds it would be hilarious, including his 2003 Port one "what is going on", crowned by this year's special "The Bounce".
Bevo just lines up and kicks through, he is better at set shots, doesn't try on the run ones. Which is a bit odd, isn't it. Its usually the other way round. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I like Bevo as a small fwd. Trouble is, he's competing against McGlynn & Moore for that same role. He doesn't have the tank for the midfield and in the back line he's a liability. As a tagger/shutdown player he has been overtaken by Nick Smith. So what's his role??? Hard to see a spot for him in the best 22.Comment

Something I'd forgotten about was Roos' mocking of Bevo on the sidelines at the Collingwood game. Granted Roos has gone, but it's the kind of thing that wouldn't make a perennial spare parts player feel wanted. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Well, he has 125.75 over his career, which is 62.5% accuracy, so I reckon Liz is bang on. Jude may have improved his goal kicking ever so slightly, but it's not really a massive difference. It is mostly just perception.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

That's what I remember. Thought it was not kosher and commented as much in a thread at the time on Roos' coaching.
I think Bevo has a right to feel aggrieved for being dropped after the Carlton final. He played well.
However... wanting out is sooky la la and has blown up in his face. Suck it in bevo, get back on the horse (pun definitely not intended) and prove your mettle the best possible way.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

What was this mocking you speak of? I seem to have missed it...Comment

If I'm recalling the same incident, wasn't that the one that everyone presumed was aimed at Bevo but may have actually been Mal that Roos was mocking as he was the player who came off immediately afterwards?
I wonder what would have happened if we'd played Bevo in that last final? He certainly played well the week before.
But looking forward it will be interesting to see how Bevo comes back from this? We saw ROK and Jude lift but others have disappeared into their shell.Comment

It would have been a completely different game against the bulldogs if Bevan and Jesse White were left in the side and Moore and [insert another player here] were omitted. But, hindsight is a beautiful thing. If I'm recalling the same incident, wasn't that the one that everyone presumed was aimed at Bevo but may have actually been Mal that Roos was mocking as he was the player who came off immediately afterwards?

I'd suggest that how Bevo goes will depend on how Horse sees his role this year. We will find out in Round 1 I would suggest.Comment
