    Jumper

Might as well get some silly season discussion underway about our jumper. Are there any views on whether a change - subtle or major - should be made?

I've banged on about the Opera House insignia before... think its kitsch and best left in the 80s where it came from.

Would love a permanent shift to the South red V jumper personally, but I doubt the club would even be considering a change.

A shift to the red V would be great, but it isn't going to happen though

I don't have any problem with the opera house on the guernsey (and with GWS coming in they probably would look to 'own' Sydney in every way possible, so it is unlikely they would steer away from that), but I also really like the simple jumpers the best - the red V was great.

As mentioned in a thread much earlier in the year, I really like our clash strip and would be happy if it was worn all the time.

Yeah, I like the clash strip too, but I reckon it should be used as an away strip, it still has the opera house/swan logo and the red V to boot. Great design.

This, except minus the little Swan logo thing at the bottom, under the opera house. It looks stupid. Get rid of it, and it's a perfect compromise between the current, Sydney-era strip, and the old South strip which looks so damn good.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

No-one looks good in mostly white. The majority of the colour red is beautifully intimidating. Our crowd colour is red and when the caps are all red its a brilliant sight, and when they make a mistake and make the caps mostly white we all look crap. As long as the strip is mostly red, that suits me. We are - actually they are - the bloods, not the plasmas.

I like the opera house design.
Comparitively, I think the old red V is really boring and 'old fashioned'

The best thing Collingwood could do is change their jumper.
              I love that they won't.

Maybe the current jumper can be improved upon in small ways, but overall I'm happy with it.

Geez, it really is the silly season! Id prefer to go back to the old south jumper but that aint gonna happen in a million years.....the main thing for me is as long as the colours are kept, and they will be, they can do what they like with the jumper. Over the years, especially in those dark dark days of the early 90's, I remember there was talk of a change of jumper colour to blue for NSW colours, now that would of been a travesty!

I like the current jumper and I also like the clash strip. Using the clash strip for all away games would be my preference.

Mostly red works best - see here, at least in English soccer.

Liverpool, the "Reds", may not necessarily agree with that right now ...

As long as it's red and white, it's fine by me.

Something like what the Bloods wore in 1924, Annie?

I love our current home jumper. The front hasn't been changed in 23 years (except for minor aesthetics) and the back has been solid red in 1992. It's clear, distinctive and it's ours. Why change?
The away jumper is just fantastic too. It may only be the Club Logo on white but it contains enough elements to recognise our history as both South Melbourne and Sydney.

This is not a silly thread at all. Here's what I've been suggesting for years now:

Home games: Current jumper with SMFC on back
Away games: South Melb. Jumper with SFC on back.

With the Gold Coast coming in next year, I suspect we'll be wearing a clash strip more often so it's a good opportunity to bring back the South Melb V on a more permanent basis.
Damn that Sorcerer! Twenty gold pieces and I'm wankered on rohypnol!
