Saw Parker play for Langwarrin firsts in the MPFL in 2009 and he was amazing.Easily BOG.This boy can seriously play.

Spangher spanked us a few years ago. May have been the Hall sparring game.

Spangher seems to be happy to be heading or way, even if there seems to be a lack of love for the bloke at the moment

sounds a little bitter but he has had two tough years of trying to trade away from WC

Would have liked to hear him say "I have a new opportunity.........to compete for a spot in the starting line up........and to say I am excited...... is an understatement"

Re Spangher - I was impressed with in an early game on BBBH - got beaten on the day but showed he had some ability.

Wasn't daunted by the big guy, did his job and that must have been about 4 - 5 years ago.

Don't think the Eagles let him settle properly into the role.

As far as skills go - remember one Andrew Dunkley turned into a champion fullback (no I'm not saying Matt will be annother Dunks), could kick over a jam tin. Always looked for a handball, so perhaps Matts' role will be to take a tall forward and bring the ball to the ground. Possible pick up if B2 is not able to come up after his achillies injury.

                Ooh, I don't think there's any doubt he's pleased.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The points I noted in particular were:
                  - Parker is a 'genuine leader' (I think he co-captained his TAC cup team). Time to whip out the 'future captain' tag!
                  - They are thinking of using Johnson as a defender, and with the recruitment of Spangher this would indicate that Sam Reid will be used as a forward at least in the short-to-medium term.

After seeing just one game on TV of Reid, I really want him to be groomed as a forward so you are correct Ugg, adding a couple of key backs makes my wish more likely.

Still anoyed we didnt take Stubbs, better bookmark this spot in case Stubbs does make the grade at Collingwood and Spangher doesn't with us

Really like the pick up of Parker. Watching his highlights shows the kid is tough and can take a overhead mark. Hopefully in the Jimmy Bartel mould. Lamb could be a freak and well worth the risk in my mind. Not sure about Sphanger never thought much of him to be honest. Might be a handy back up.

Perhaps we were hoping to take Stubbs as NSW rookie? In any case, Stubbs wouldn't have been able to perform the role that they have spelled out with Spangher - immediate key position depth in the backline.

The rookie draft could be very interesting - we might want to make a statement by picking up a number of rookies with the new comp kicking off. We may look at ben reid as a nsw rookie, and of course we should pick moss as a rookie.

I never like to bag any swans player, but even I was like WTF???? when they selected Spangher. I wish him all the best if/when he plays for us in 2011, but I can just see myself saying to friends...."there's another Spangher in the works" everytime he stuffs up.
