Judging by the photos of the boxing session, unlike a lot of midfield draftees Luke Parker's size and build won't be a hurdle in him playing senior football next year
I am wondering if the selectors think Spanger will be a late developer? He has the endurance & the stopping power but as has been recorded here many times his disposal leaves a lot to be desired. But in saying that the coaches can work with him on this problem as they have last year with Teddy's decision making & wasn't he a revelation when given a bit of responsibility & specialist coaching. I am very excited with the other picks as they have good wraps on them & are going to strengthen our depth even more. Lamb is apparently a big talent in the johnston mould, Parker like Bartell or Hodge & Alex Johnson is a very versatile big man. I remember Richmond had one of those who played wing, CHF & HB & the Hawks had Andy Gowers 6'6" on a wing. Oh what joy to see a big guy who is ultra quick as they say this bloke is. This would be the first time since the Barry Round era, surely, that we have had 15 substantial talls to pick from, again what joy, I remember when we had to play short blokes on monsters. Remember Leo on Gerrig & C Bolts on Riewoldt & they were our tall defenders at barely 6'1". Lovely to have lots of guys 191cm & above.
A 6'6" Andy Gowers, would have been 6' 3" at most. Maybe you were thinking of Chris Langford who started on a wing at 6'5".
It's interesting to note that all 3 were selected not as teenagers, but after some years playing in the VFL and WAFL comps (in Pods's case a lot of years).
