We don't have any spots on the list left. Spangher was our recycled player.

Wouldn't be against taking either Dowler, Neagle, Murphy or Tiller as a mature aged rookie.
      Low risk potential high return.

Well we have up to 7 rookie postions open, I doubt we will use all of them but given our reserves are in a new comp next year we may choose to make a statement and pick up a few. Obviously we are are looking at Gary Moss given his training with us, would really like us to also pickup Robert Eddy. I also wonder given our interest in Travis Tuck earlier in the year if we would risk it with him. As a NSW pre-selected rookie very interested in Ben Reid I like that he showed his best form in the Under-18 Championships which suggest that he shows more when his around better players. Also as a project player it would be great to get Brad harvey he absolutely killed it at the combine.

          On the Swans Facebook page

All the players have returned for pre season today and have just completed a 3k time trial. Some great runs and a fee pained faces, grunts and groans. Rookie list prospect Eugene Kruger won, followed by Nathan Gordon and Ben McGlynn.

Kruger beat Gordon! Wow. Worth a punt in the rookie draft.

I was also wondering about Tuck. I know he has the drug problem but if he can overcome that he may have a lot of upside. Always worth giving Hawthorn players a try!

Have the new draftees arrived? and did they do the run?

Tuck has pretty much been guaranteed a spot on Hawthorn's rookie list as part of his rehabilitation.

According to the FB page again: Lamb, Parker and Spangher have arrived. Johnson arrives tomorrow.

                They didn't do the run
New Swans Jed Lamb, Luke Parker and former Eagle Matthew Spangher joined the club for the first time on Monday morning, looking on as the majority of the senior list ran a 3km time trial.

I notice the Weagles have delisted Hansen paving the way for them to now take a player in the PSD. Given the lateness of the delisting and the fact they have pick 2 in the PSD, I assume they now have their eye on somebody, maybe a young player that didn't get taken in the ND. They did finish their ND at pick 29.

So the PSD as it stands is
                  1. Gold Coast - ?
                  2. Weagles - ?
                  3. Wretchmond - Bachar Houli
                  4. Essendon - Indicating a young player
                  5. Hawthorn - Cameron Bruce
                  6. Freo - John Anthony

What the coaches learnt last year!!!

Longmire, in his first pre-season as senior coach, said the ability of Lewis Jetta, Gary Rohan, Sam Reid and Trent Dennis-Lane to play senior footy in 2010 showed that anything was possible for the newcomers.
"What we learned from last year is not to put a ceiling on them. When we look at last year's five picks, four of them played," he said.

"We don't want to say they can or can't play; we'll just see how they develop."

I like Longmire's approach. It would be a great time to be a draft pick at the Sydney Swans! Aardvaark ...we are really going to enjoy this next season!

Yep. I've got a few oldies in the gun so they better perform or out the door. No room for sentiment with a new coach and a premiership to win. Roll on 2011.

Ah, now, any of you other ressiewatchers would know that I rated Eugene Kruger big time when he had toppie duties and suggested the PTB take a good look - he's a 'natural' IMHO.

Tuck is also suffering depression, probably from drug taking. No thanks.
